Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / :/

well, there\'s always ye olde fashioned way of just making a little php script with two radio buttons and giving all the folks that are actively aware of server status access to it :P

not up-to-the-minute, but would work for longer periods of downtime i\'d wager.

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / server status

has there been any thoughts to posting the server status on the main page? seems like a common thread on the board...

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / hrm...

i\'m forwarding UDP port 13331 to here (tried tcp as well just in case), yet it still seems to just sit there (10+ mins, no error or reaction to the button press)

pinging ps.gamiix.com, looks like the ip there is 203.30.19.55, but pinging 203.30.19.55:13331 turns up dead. which seems odd since i\'ve never had any port-forwarding difficulties in the past (multiplayer game servers work fine here, etcetera.)

i\'ve verified that psclient.cfg is set to port 13331, and changed the connection server variable to both ps.gamiix.com and the above IP just to be safe. also tried connecting with a foobar\'ed name and password just to see if i could get through to an authentication error.

i\'m assuming it must be me, but i\'m stumped as to how my standard netgear rt311 port opening settings, which work for most everything else, don\'t seem to respond. has there been a similar problem in the past somewhere? something foolish i\'m overlooking?

is there only one character type currently available? i\'ve selected to be an enkipukai, as that was one of the supported races, and tried to be both a rogue and street warriar, figuring either the first and last option would be supported.

sorry for the novel length post and the pain in the ass question, i just want to illustrate i\'m trying to determine the problem on my end on my own. i\'d really like to check out the game, alpha or otherwise.

side note: the client seems to crash when running it in windowed mode when the monitor is set to truecolor, even after the compatibility switch is set to 98/ME. setting it to 16bit color fixes the problem. don\'t know if other nt-based folks are having similar problems. might want to throw it in the faq?

thanks;

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / *slaps forehead*

i actually *just* found it, but good to know it hasn\'t changed now that it\'s moved from the old IP.

the blunder i\'d made was not seeing a searchbox on the main forums listing page, and assuming there wasn\'t one within the forums. it was all the way at the bottom but without looking closely for it, i just assumed it was another one of the display changing options or something.

it might be in best interest to edit the forum layout so there\'s a \"search all\" on the forums listing page. even if it cuts down on only a few questions, it sounds like you guys could use whatever relief you can get, heh.

apologies if this is a terribly redundant question; i\'ve attempted to read relatively far back into the forums, and i\'ve done some googlesearching against the forums, but i can\'t seem to find any information on what port numbers planeshift uses?

i\'m on a firewall router and most likely need to open them to complete character creation, etcetera.

looks like a really great project. farrr too many similar mmorpgs seem to come out with an alpha and start thinking they can charge as much as everquest. here\'s to hoping things stay open and free  :]

thanks to the team for their efforts;
