Hmm, I don't know where you come from, but at my place it's been common knowledge for quite some years that tobacco is poisonous and addictive. So I don't really understand what the tobacco companies where "hiding" all the years.
That said as a strict non-smoker (who gets a dry throat as soon as there is a bit of smoke in the air) i'd still back the idea of having some kind of smoke implemented ingame. Imagine the endless discussions arising on this topic when some fanatics of both sides happen to gather at places like Kada-El's. I'm pretty sure there also will emerge some people starting campaigns against smoking at public places or similar, and so on.

To make things short:
Just implementing it without real effects on the characters can make PS a more lively and convincing place.

Crossbows aren't the most powerful form of archery... the composite bow is actually much more powerful.

Maybe when challenging you could choose if you're actually trying to kill your opponent or justdo some brawling.

So when your health drops to zero, just are simply knocked out and defeated. This way the winner could even get the duel points as the system can see who actually won. To make things more realistic, there could still be a small chance that you unintentionally wound your opponent lethally, but that's for the devs to decide.

Why rule:
When you do some brawling, both you and your opponent normally know you're not about to kill each other, so this wouldn't be limited to unarmed fighting but apply to many weapons (mages casting flame bursts on each other are an exception somewhat).

But the better you are, the better you can aim, increasing your ability to hit critical/weak points in your enemy's armor, doing more harm.

And if you want more damage:
Use a crossbow, but then prepare for a decrease in firing frequency.

Regarding the promotion of drug consumption:

Why not introduce some "penalty"? e.g. reducing your stamina temporarily. I don't mean it should drain stamina but lower your reserve, so you would exhaust faster.

And another thing:
Come on, I assume everybody capable of acquiring a smoke in Planeshift knows the harms of smoking.

I don't really see the realism in having to know one's name before being able to ask him for it.
And to me the problem Karyuu mentioned seems not like a technical bug but an inherent design problem that might be not be too easy to fix really watertight.

Besides: What is so unrealistic in targeting someone before talking to that person?
Normally I also don't talk to someone while looking out of the window, except I intend it that way, but that would lead to far. Targeting here only means that you focus your counterpart and look at him while talking.

I don't know if the chat commands are executed on the client side, but if they are, it might help to let people choose in the options if they want to use one or both of the systems. That would also help newcomers to see how to talk to NPCs without having to tell them IG.

Want it fixed fast?
Fix it yourself!

I don't know the code behind the timer, but sometimes such things can be pretty nasty to debug, and how are the devs suposed to see if they got the bug if they don't test it?

I know, it's annoying, but the devs are asked to have a thousand things fixed by _yesterday_ as they are important to someone ...

also  why in the world does armor stats not show up? it basicly just says this is armor. and the typ and where it goes...no defensive status or nething...

Because the devs are trying to keep the amount of stats and numbers low

I'd like to, but it's a bit hard without a server and my machine sitting behind a NAT I don't have access to ...

This gave is still in full development, and how are the devs supposed to develop the game when the y have to keep back all stuff until it works?

Do something else, talk to other players, there's planty of possibilities ... (however I have to admit that it's somewhat annoying, but who are we to complain?)
