A Change Of Seasons - Dream Theatre

- Mike Portnoy

I. The Crimson Sunrise
(Instrumental)

II. Innocence
I remember a time
My frail, virgin mind
watched the crimson sunrise
Imagined what it might find
Life was filled with wonder
I felt the warm wind blow
I must explore the boundaries
Transcend the depth of winter\'s snow
Innocence caressing me
I never felt so young before
There was so much life in me
Still I longed to search for more
But those days are gone now
Changed like a leaf on a tree
Blown away forever
into the cool autumn breeze
The snow has now fallen
and my sun\'s not so bright
I struggle to hold on
with the last of my might
In my den of inequity
viciousness and subtlety
struggle to ease the pain
struggle to find the sane
Ignorance surrounding me
I\'ve never been so filled with fear
All my life\'s been drained from me
The end is drawing near....

III. Carpe Diem
\'Carpe diem, seize the day\'
I\'ll always remember
The chill of November
The news of the fall
The sounds in the hall
The clock on the wall ticking away
\'Seize the Day\'
I heard him say
Life will not always be this way
Look around
Hear the sounds
Cherish your life while you\'re still around

\"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today,
Tomorrow will be dying.\"

We can learn from the past
But those days are gone
We can hope for the future
But there might not be one
The words stuck in my mind
alive from what I\'ve learned
I have to seize the day
To home I returned
Preparing for her flight
I held with all my might
Fearing my deepest fright
She walked into the night
She turned for one last look
She looked me in the eye
I said, \'I Love You...Good-bye\'

\"It\'s the most awful thing you\'ll
ever hear.\"
\"If you\'re lying to me...\"
\"Oh, you dearly love her.\"
\"...just have to leave... all our lives.\"
\"Seize the day!\"
\"Something happened.
\"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may.\"
\"She was killed.\"

IV. The Darkest of Winters
(Instrumental)

V. Another World
So far or so it seems
All is lost with nothing fulfilled
Off the pages and a T.V. screen
Another world where nothing\'s true
Tripping through the life fantastic
Lose a step and never get up
Left alone with a cold blank stare
I feel like giving up
I was blinded by a paradise
Utopia high in the sky
A dream that only drowned me
Deep in sorrow, wondering why
Oh come let us adore him
Abuse and then ignore him
No matter what, don\'t let him be
Let\'s feed upon his misery
Then string him up for all the world to see
I\'m sick of all you hypocrites
holding me obey
And I don\'t need your sympathy
to get me through the day
Seasons change and so can I
Hold on Boy, No time to cry
Untie these strings, I\'m climbing down
I won\'t let them push me away
Oh come let us adore him
Abuse and then ignore him
No matter what, don\'t let him be
Let\'s feed upon his misery
Now it\'s time for them to deal with me

VI. The Inevitable Summer
(Instrumental)

VII. The Crimson Sunset
I\'m much wiser now
A lifetime of memories
run through my head
They taught me how
for better or worse, alive or dead
I realize there\'s no turning back
Life goes on the offbeaten track
I sit down with my son
Set to see the Crimson Sunset
(Gather ye rosebuds while ye may)
Many years have come and gone
I\'ve lived my life, but now must move on
(Gather ye rosebuds while ye may)
He is my only one
Now that my time has come
Now that my life is done
We look into the sun
\'Seize the day and don\'t you cry,
Now it\'s time to say good-bye
Even though I\'ll be gone,
I will live on, live on.\'

It\'s a long \'un, about 23 minutes  ;)

Roffle xD

It all depends on what styles you play, and whether you\'re looking for diversity or an amp which just plays one style well, like The Bluesbreaker.

A Warlock, hmm? *sniggers*
I can\'t talk really, up until a couple of years ago i\'ve owned a goddam awful Strat - copy and a Carlsbro amp xD

But now I have my Ibanez. Aww. *strokes*

^ Thats the closest review I could find to that amp  :)

EDIT: I wrote *snig(gers)* after \"hmm?\" and look what it came up with! O.o
I\'m not being racist towards your Warlock in any way, honest  ;)

You do realize right under my name it says I live in Los Angeles...

I heard some great stuff about the line6 actually. The only problem it has is no room for a pedal. Ill check out what else I can find, once again I want a good practice amp, not a 150W marshall to blow out my ear drums.

Edit:
Eeeep I just found out my guitar teacher has a friend that works for ESP guitars. I might be able to get a $2400 Kamikazi for under 1K. :D

A Kamikazi? *drools*
You lucky man  :)

And as for the Line 6...
I\'ve heard some great things about them, make no mistake. They make excellent practice amps, and the pre-sets are godlike xD

A word of warning though: The guys who designed this amp have deliberately given the last three settings far more gain than any sane person could ever use, so you have to go easy on the drive for a decent sound. If you drive it too hard it will compress the crap out of your signal and rob your sound of any individuality.

As well as that, as for the Spider series, i\'ve heard rumours about their reliability. Then again, unless you\'re going to emulate The Who and smash the crap out of your gear, I doubt that should be too much of a problem ;)

I suppose i\'m prejudiced as I really do prefer tube amps to anything else, and I believe that valve amps are massively overrated, but thats just a matter of preference, hehe.

The Spider is probably the most versatile amp for that price out there, so if thats what you\'re looking for, go for it  :P

As for the Roland Cube, dragonfire, i\'ve never had the pleasure of playing one before, so I can\'t judge, hehe ;)

EDIT: Just out of curiosity, what\'s your setup at the moment?

hmm I only heard one song of Dragonforce, which was quite tranquil (Dawn over a new world) not bad but tranquil, do they also make hard stuff?

Well, it depends what your idea of \'heavy stuff\' is  :)

Their drumming style seems thrash metal to me, the guitar is typical 80\'s shredding. Then the lyrics, which are corny Swedish-operatic xD

Try \'Fury of the Storm\'.

They don\'t really fit in with the other music I appreciate, but I suppose I enjoy it for the searing guitar solos
;)

I\'ll drink to that.

Aside from a hefty dose of rock and metal - Metallica, Maiden, Zeppelin et al - I also listen to classical/baroque and a lot of progressive music, mainly through a musicians perspective, having played guitar for a fair few years. Here are a few of these bands for fans of rock/metal/instrumental pieces.

*Dream Theatre
*Liquid Tension Experiment
*Symphony X
*Joe Satriani
*Yngwie Malmsteen
*John Petrucci
*Flogging Molly (Irish Pirate Rock - what more could you possibly want  :P)
*Indigenous
*Dragonforce

These are but a few, but my intention is to get other people interested in these styles of music, not to show off the size of my media library  ;)

Good to see Dream Theatre fans out there, hehe.
Oh, and as for Metallica\'s new stuff....
What stuff?

G\'day all   :)
