Yes, it was cancelled because of the low attendance. Even if there would have been enough hiders (there were 3 at most, since some hiders left before other hiders joined), there were certainly not enough seekers, and I do not think that telling everybody in the game about the event (like Drey would have done) would have helped much (I shouted in the plaza some times, with little avail).

But I would like to thank those who were there at some time, and were willing to be a hider or help me organize: Gag, Odessa, Thorin and Drey.

That might be true. But I would rather have a good organized event, and that requires some preparation. If you do not coordinate the hiding places in advance, you may end up with hiding places that the seekers cannot reach, hiding places that are way too close to each other and hiding places that are too far away...

I might think about rescheduling the event, but in that case I would like some input by all of you how we can get more people to participate: what would be a better time, and perhaps some changes in the setup and organization.

Also it would be better if it would be organized by a team of people, instead of mainly myself. Odessa offered me help allready (thank you Odessa), and I know perhaps one or two other players. It would be even better to organize it with the help of a guild, like the Exporers, who seem to be interested in this hide and seek :) Also some more Game Masters would be nice. Just a couple of ideas...

So if you would like this event to be held in some other time, please tell so in this thread, and perhaps post some ideas about it.

Just a reminder that the hide and seek party will be tonight at 7:00 pm GMT. Although I doubt that I will have enough hiders, half an hour before it starts... :( If i do not have enough hiders by then (at least 5), or not enough seekers show up (at least 15), I will cancel the event.

Oh, by the way, sorry Odessa that I did not meet you in-game Wednesday, I had no opportunity to play PS then...

Ok, since all the possible hiders so far I have spoken with would all like different times, I shall just have to set a time myself. I will set it to 7 pm GMT/UC, thats\' 8 pm CET (for most of Europe) and 1 pm CST (for Central America). You can check the time for your part of the world here. I\'ve chosen this particular time because the server stats tell that the most players are online at this time (if I am right about that, could someone confirm it please?). It means that the Autralian and far eastern hiders/seekers will probably not be able to make it, since it will be in the middle of the night there... I\'m very sorry for the players there who wanted to participate, but I just had to make a choice...

Furthermore I\'ve made some more decisions: if there will show up less that 5 hiders or less than 15 seekers, I think it will not be worthwhile and will probably cancel the event. But of course I am counting on it that this will not be necessary :) One more thing: the event will last two hours at a maximum, if there are still some hiders not found then, then the hider can keep the prize for itself :)

I am still looking for more hiders... if you want to be a hider, please contact me in-game or send me an email (j.boven@gmx.net). You can also tell me half an hour before the event (6:30 pm GMT), when I will be at the plaza. You can choose your own hiding spot, but:
- it will have to be reachable for everyone without megajumping, flying or steep slopes which you can only climb in a particular angle
- it may not be too near a hider who has chosen his spot before you have chosen yours
- it must of course be a good hiding spot :) not too well known, not too obvious and not wide in the open where you can be seen from many sides
If you do not know a good spot or if we (the other hiders and me) decide that your spot is not a good one, we can give you an other spot instead. Remember, as a hider you can also win prizes, because some prizes will be allotted among the hiders after the event! In fact you have a better chance to win a prize as a hider than as a seeker!

Also I would like it if the hiders with an own hiding spot could give me the exact position of the spot, which you can get when you use the /pos command at the hiding spot (type \"/pos\" in the chat window and look in the system channel/tab). This is because you can then be teleported there before the event by a GM, preventing people following you to the hiding spot and it will give a nice effect. Talking of which, which GMs could be present at that time?

Anyway, please everyone spread the word (in-game and out-game) that this Saturday 19:00/7:00pm GMT there will be a great hide and seek party in Hydlaa that will start at the plaza, and in which you can win fabulous prizes! I am confident that it will be fun, and hope you will all be there :D

Well I didn\'t see it myself, I was told by some others. And it seems that it only happened once, and that the character did not say he was Jerom, but only had the name Jerom above it\'s head, for a short time untill the whole character dissapeared. So, after discussing this with a GM we diceded it must have been a bug, a ghost image of my name or something like that. So disregard what I said about

Anyway, back on topic: what would be the best time to hold the hide and seek party this Saturday? At which time of day are the most players online? The stats (on laanx.fragnetics.com) say about midnight every day, but which time zone is that? In Singapore? That is GMT+7?

Personally I think about 2 p.m. GMT would be best, also because there are some hiders from Australia, and I guess they don\'t want to play PS in the middle of the night :)

By the way, I\'ve looted/bought some nice frosty/dark/fire broad swords and short swords the last days, so I have increased the prizes (see topic start). Also one or two of the prizes will be given to the hiders, to reward them. The hider(s) who will roll the highest with a dice, will win those prizes :) We still need some more hiders, so please volunteer to be one (you will have a better chance to win a prize as a hider than as a seeker, now ;)).

At the plaza, as far as I\'m concerned :)

By the way, there seems to be someone in the game who is impersonating me... The only reason I could think of why he/she would do this is to get to know the hiding places... So please, every hider, make sure that you are talking to ME (Jerom) when you discuss hiding places and stuff. If it is an other character (with another name) who claims to be an alternative character of mine, it is not me!

I have consulted the two players of who I know that they will help and hide, and we agreed that this Saturday (October the 8th) would probably be the best day. We have not set a time yet (the more because they live in Autralia and I live in the Netherlands :) ). Please come with any suggestions for a time (or date), when are the most people online?

We could still use some more hiders, though. In the best situation we would have 5 hiders and 2 or 3 backup, if some of the 5 cannot make it. We have three now... I will try to rally some more people in-game. TheMinority, if you can indeed be a hider this Saturday, thank you very much, your help is greatly appreciated. What is your in-game character? I will show you some of the hiding spots we have chosen, but you can also pick your own. I am considering also giving rewards to the hiders, as well as to the people who will find them first (oh dear, my character Jerom will be completely broke after this event ;) ).

And Drey or any other Game Master who can be present at that time would be mostly appreciated. I can anticipate a dozen of things which would be handy that only a GM could do, like letting everyone currently in the game know that there is an event in Hydlaa, transporting players who want to participate to Hydlaa and transporting the hiders to their hiding spots. I will have the exact locations of the hiding spots, and by transporting the hiders the seekers can identify the hiders before it starts and we can be sure that nobody can follow the hiders to their hiding spots.

Let me explain a bit more what I had in mind about the setup:

There will (most likely) only be one round, unlike the other hide and seek attempt a while ago. There will be about 5 people hiding (there are three people who have volunteered to be one of the hiding people so far, if you want to be one, please contact me). These people will carry prizes with them. So the other \"normal\" participants will only be seeking, and will not be hiding themselves.

The names of the ones hiding will be revealed at the start of the event (and if a Game Master could arrange it, the hiding ones could also temporarily have some kind of tag with their name, like with guild names). If you are the first one to find a particular hiding player, he/she will give you a prize (or several prizes). Also it will be announced to everyone that this particular hiding player has been found in a particular place, so the others do not need to seek for this one any further.

If anyone (especially Game Masters with experience in this) has any suggestions of improving this setup, please do tell me!

Hello everyone,

Although the hide and seek party of this thread was cancelled, I would like to try again and am organizing one myself in the near future. It will have a bit different setup than this cancelled one.

Please check this thread if you are interested. Game masters, please read it as well and contact me if you can help me with this.

I hope that many will participate in this one, I am sure it will be great fun!

Because:
- I honestly did not read it well (I did read the first post, but the abbrevation HAGS and the purpose of the competition wasn\'t very clear to me). Yeah I know, I know, I should have read better or used the search... :(
- The setup for that hide and seek party is quite different from the one I am planning
- It is an outdated thread and posting in it would not draw much attention, I fear...
Nevertheless, I will post a link to this thread in it.

Yayoo, would you like to be part of the event and be one of the hiding people? If so, please contact me :) We have some very good hiding spots for you but you can pick your own as well (as long as it is reachable by normal means, not by jumping, megajumping, very steep slopes which only can be taken in a particular angle or by glitches).

Also, I will say so again, we could use some Game Masters, to make sure everything will be allright and to prevent any cheating. So please, Game Masters, contact me if you can help me organizing and also post here some suggestions and experiences from the last try (Drey, fireofsoul?).

How about the players, the people who will participate and go seek? How much interest is there for this event anyway? The hide and seek party in the other thread was cancelled because of lack of interest, but that might also be a result of the date and time it was organized (right before/after the wipe, wasn\'t it?), or the setup. Remember everyone, there will be some fabulous prizes as well (especially if some Game Master can come up with even better prices). So if you like the idea and think you will participate as a seeker, please post a message here, so we will have an idea if there will be much participants.

General Discussion / Event in Hydlaa: hide and seek!
« on: September 30, 2005, 04:45:41 pm »
The hide and seek event of this thread was cancelled because of low attendance, but there might be another try, so keep an eye on this thread

Hello everybody,

I am organizing a hide and seek event in Hydlaa. This Saturday, October the 8th, at 19:00/7:00 pm GMT (you can find out what time that is in your own region here), some players will hide all over Hydlaa: maybe in the sewers, maybe in the temple or it\'s dungeons, maybe in the arena, maybe in a part of the town itself... Just anywhere in the Hydlaa vicinity. Not in the forest or beyond, though.

When you are the first to find such a hiding player, the player will give you a price! :D The prices so far are:
- a fire broadsword and a frosty broadsword (both 54 slash)
- two frosty short swords (both 40 slash)
- a broad sword of the whirlwind, a longsword of the whirlwind and one or two more of these kind of weapons (20-30 slash)
- several magic glyphs
If you want to participate in this event, we will all meet at the plaza in Hydlaa at the start of the event, so come there.

I am still looking for more hiders... if you want to be a hider, please contact me in-game (my character\'s name is Jerom) or send me an email (j.boven@gmx.net). You can also tell me half an hour before the event (6:30 pm GMT), when I will be at the plaza. You can choose your own hiding spot, but:
- it has to be in the area described above: the Hydlaa region, the Library region (southern Hydlaa), the arena, the temple and it\'s dungeon or the sewers
- it will have to be reachable for everyone without megajumping, flying or steep slopes which you can only climb in a particular angle
- it may not be too near the spot of an other hider who has chosen his spot before you have chosen yours
- it must of course be a good hiding spot not too well known, not too obvious and not wide in the open where you can be seen from many sides
If you want to be a hider and do not know a good spot or if we (the other hiders and me) decide that your spot is not a good one, we can give you an other spot instead.

Remember, as a hider you can also win prizes, because some prizes will be allotted among the hiders after the event! In fact you have a better chance to win a prize as a hider than as a seeker! :) Also, if you hide and are not found in 2 hours, you can keep the prize for yourself!

Also we could use the help of a GM, to be able to tell/shout to all the players who are online at the moment the event will start and to transport seekers to the plaza and hiders to the hiding places. Which GMs will be available, and willing to help, at that time?

Please everybody spread the word about this event, in-game and out-game. I am sure it will be a great event with a whole lot of fun, and I hope you will all participate! :D

It was fun, although I didn\'t win (was having some lags during the race :-( ). Things like this should be organized more often. Hide and Seek would be nice also, for instance 4 people hiding in Hydlaa; if you find one you get a price :-) Just an idea... And I would be willing to contribute for the prize money/items.

Ok, a GM (Cereja) told me that the Lamp Oil quest is in fact working, if you give a certain NPC only trias, not hexas or octas. I tried it and it did indeed work :-) Furthermore she told me that there are 5 working quests at the moment, so the others are not working.

Rage McCloud and zanzibar, please do not post spoilers in this thread: so nothing about where you can get quests, and nothing about what the purpose of a quest is or how you can solve it...

I tried again today and the rat extermination quest is indeed working, I must have done something wrong the first time... thanks for telling me :-)

But what about the other quests, the retrieval of the script and finding a cure for a certain sick creature? Could anyone confirm if these are or are not working?

A second mining quest and a lantern quest? Sound interesting :-) I will search for those and other quests...
