If theres one thing I\'ve learned from making this skin its that people have very different opinions about stuff. My personal preference is to have a bit of variety in things so that not everything looks the same. Dont worry though, hopefully I\'ll be able to address those changes that have been requested by popular opinion. So far on the list of optional mods for ths skin that I plan on making are:
Crystal buttons for the toolbar
a wooden chat-box
wooden arch in the inventory box

As for the skeleton parts.... I completely agree with suno-regin.... Only problem is, I cant decide what to use in its place. I will change it just as soon as I decide. Any suggestions?

And, Induane, Im not sure I understand what oyu mean when you say that there are parts of the outer inventory window ovelaping the inner one. Could you explain a bit more?

Anyway, thanks again to everyone who\'s given thier opinions and feedback. Certainly I wouldnt have made it this far without them.

I just got a chance to play 360. I have to say the graphics are good, but dont expect anything new. I mean, its the same old stuff: some FPS\'s, a Tony Hawk, Need For Speed, etc blah blah blah

Better graphics, same old stuff. Dont waste your money yet wait for some good original games to come out and the price to drop.

For now i\'ll be happy playing battlefield 2 on my computer, and ill probably pick up a copy of elderscrolls oblivion when it comes out on PC.

*still waiting for a revolution*

Have you seen any sales figures for the DS lately? Nintendo is touting it as a huge successand its bringing in big profits. I have a friend whos a diehard sony fan... bought a PSP and sold it a month later. I asked him why and he said he never played it, no good games.

Maybe if you owned a DS and had played through some of the better games such as Yoshi: Touch and Go and Metroid Prime: Hunters you wouldnt call the touch screen a gimmick. It allows for a style of gameplay that has never been possible on any system before it.

Bushidobull,

I have a few things to say to you

1. making yourself look like an ass is not a good way to get you opinions heard.

2. The punnishment system has been put in place for many diferent and valid reasons, an overwhelming majority of the players are content with the system (at least as a temporary solution) , whereas there are only a handfull of players that have a problem with it (and those players are generally considered a nuicance to the plansehift society

3. The PvP system WILL be reworked over and over again. Remember, this is a TECH DEMO and you are a BETA TESTER. In the future, there will most likely be a new chalenge system, PvP areas, murders will be possible, etc. This has been discussed time and time again.

4. If you are still determined to walk around dueling everybody in sight then do this: set up some of your shortcut buttons to say things like \"would you like to duel?\"come fight me you coward!\" \"would anybody like to duel?\" /me taunts you etc etc. There a infinite possibilities for those shortcut buttons, and by using them you will avoid the punishment, kicks and bans.

5. If you\'re still not happy, then dont play. I would personally suggest that you play Dark Ages of Camelot, which is widely considered to have some of the best PvP and RvR aspects. Or you could just play WoW since that seems to be the trendy thing right now.

and last but not least, please edit your posts. in this thread you have a triple-post and two double-posts.

Its really pretty simple: If you were the last person to post in the thread then click the [EDIT] button instead of the [REPLY] or
Quote
buttons.

Yes, please do :)
Right now im only a few MB\'s short of my monthly bandwidth limit. Also, it looks like a tar.gz would be a popular option.

Acraig,
as for making the modding easier.

1 what induane said was right on, being able to specify alternate xml\'s on a skin-by-skin basis would be a fantastic addition.

2 it would be nice to be able to re-load the skin(and xmls) while in-game. It is quite a hassle when you are editing xml files to have to reload the entire game when you are making small adjustments and such.

2 A way to run the game when the server is down. It has been suggested that I compile and run my own \"test server\" so that I could work on the skin even when the server is down. Its a possibility, but wouldn\'t it be nice if that wasnt the only option?

of course you could also address points two and three by making a separate program that just loads the gui on a black background. and you could reload it as many times as you need to. That would be the ideal solution, but I have a feeling it wouldnt be very high on the to-do list considering everything the devs have to worry about already. It would also be pretty complex considering you would basically have to build it from scratch. So maybe the best way to get this done would be for me to take up programing :P

Anyway, thats what you get for asking :D

For those who still havent tried it or have had problems installing the new skin, I\'ve made an executable installer for the skin.

Now instalation is as easy as running the executable.

1-Click here to download it

2-Run it

3-Enter the planeshift installation path (defaults to C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue)

(setup program then runs automatically)
4-Click the \"skins\" button

5-Select \'bauraksered\' from the drop-down menu

6-Enjoy

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Im making a new thread on this for a few reasons.

First, I\'ve noticed alot of people are having problems installing the new skin and the installation instructions were all scattered in the old thread.

Second, I didnt like the title of the old thread since it no longer applies.

Third, it was just getting too long.

So I intend for the old thread to fade away and be forgotten

kevman, it looks like you dont have the proper XML\'s installed with that skin :) I looks a lot better when you do. If you\'re not sure how, just go back to the discussion in the fanart forum and read the instructions that I posted. They tell you where all of the files need to be.

Oh, and nice screenshot Draklar

You can add me to the list of people that are waiting for revolution.

I always pickup Nintendo systems on launch and wait a year or two sometimes three before I buy other systems. Just got my PS2 6-months ago :D and even then i thought i was paying too much for it

Bring on the revolution

oh, and AendarCallenlasse, dont be so quick to say that the next-gen consoles are soooo much more powefull than a computer. the 3-core (6 thread), and 9-core proccesors of the 360 and ps3 are a lot of fluff. Each of these \"cores\" is severly limited and crippled compared to a regular desktop CPU, so the idea is that by sticking 3 of these very limited cores together you can achieve a powerfull CPU with a lower manufacturing cost.

This is evidenced by the fact that the ps3\'s 9 cores are capable of about the same performance as the 360\'s 3 cores. each of the 9 cores in the cell processor is really not a core at all. Its function is better compared to the pixel pipelines from modern GPU\'s. Each of the nine cores can only effectively do one very specific, very limited task at a time, whereas a full-fledged CPU is much more flexible, and powerfull.

9 cores does not = 9 CPU\'s
3 cores does not = 3 CPU\'s

9 cores is not necesarily > than 3
3 cores is not necesarily > than 1

one real-world example of this would be a dog-sled pulled by 9 sled dogs. The sled pulled by 9 dogs is not neccesarily more powerfull than a snow-mobile with just one small engine.

What you end up with are systems that perform poorly unless they are running highly optimized code. This has seen and well documented. multi-core CPU\'s often perform worse than thier single core counterparts under these circumstances.

now im not saying that these arent great pieces of hardware. They are some good powerfull machines, but dont let the PR guys fool you. The PS3 is not going to replace the supercomputer as we know it, an the 360 will not swallow the uindustry whole.

I probably wont update the download until I have the rest of the skin done. that way I wont have to upload the new .zip file every time I update something. and then everybody can just download the whole thing one time.

Unfortunately there werent any GM\'s around to save me from this terrible fate.

Oh, thanks for pointing that out sesmi, I hadnt thought about it, but because the files are xml format your webbrowser is opening them instead of downloading them. All you have to do is right click and choose \"save target as\"
