General Discussion / Re: VERSION 0.3.020 - WHAT IS NOT WORKING FOR YOU?
« on: October 15, 2007, 04:52:34 am »
Speed seemed pretty comparable to the 0.3.019 client on my system (Debian Etch, Athlon64 3800+, 1GB RAM, GeForce 7600 GS).

I liked the new fog, but it seemed exceptionally bright for 11:00 PM.

Well, I heard that if it's been posted on the forums it can't be used in the game. So not that specific picture...

It took like five minutes to do, once I found the zipfile it was in. I can easily redo it, and the new version won't be posted on the forums.  :)

Settings knows this, but if I had Jayose welcome visitors to the library with "codices" it would be inconsistent with the sign in front of the library. So yes, it's an error, but it's consistent. :)

Hm, the sign I see reads "Codex - Librams", so it's already doubly inconsistent.  :P

Be understanding please, the art isn't something that can just be changed by anyone.

I'll happily donate this, in the .dds format and proper orientation, if it'll help. :)

(I was surprised to see how small the original was!)

Jayose welcomes visitors to the library with "Welcome to Jayose's Librams and Codexes". The plural of codex is codices.

In the Player Guide, the description for Lemurs states "they have a pale and azure complexion." The accompanying artwork shows greenish skin, as opposed to the bright blue indicated by the word "azure".

Whenever I do a /who, it shows an alphabetized list of 30 characters, then an alphabetized list of 30 different characters, and so on until it\'s shown them all.  Or at least it did a couple of weeks ago; I haven\'t tried it since then.

My favorite is Trinidad extra-hot haba?ero sauce (loads of flavor, not just heat), but since I can\'t find it locally, I generally go with El Yucateco green haba?ero sauce.

(Yeah, I know I could order the Trinidad online, but I never seem to get around to it.)

Yeah, that\'s what I ended up doing too.   :)

I know it\'s cheating, but walktest and turning off the camera\'s hit testing have stopped me from going crazy trying to figure out a way to get places that there\'s not actually any way to get to.

Oh, like that giant demon-head with the stairs and stone table inside it?  (and no floor around the table, that was a bit of a nasty surprise...)

I\'m also curious about that top walkway that leads to the throne in the cathedral-ish hall.  The first time I was in the Death Realm, I must have wasted at least half an hour trying to find a way up to it.

Great, I just had to come up with an excuse for suddenly busting out laughing in the office.

This has nothing to do with the artists; they get very little money from published books of music and tablature.  All the profit goes to organizations like the MPA and ASCAP, which is why they\'re so keen to kill off sites which might hurt their sales.  (Why shell out the cash for a book if you can just call up the chords on your Web browser for free?)  It\'s all about the benjamins.

Lyric and tab sites get shut down all the time, usually with nothing more than a threat from a lawyer.  And it\'s only going to get worse, as long as Congress is willing to extend the duration of copyright protection every time Mickey Mouse is about to go into the public domain, or pass laws like the DMCA which gut the \"fair use\" provisions of 17 USC 107 -- with which tablature sites might once have mounted a defense.

So, um... am I the only person who actually enjoyed the Death Realm upon encountering it for the first time?

I mean, the first thing I wanted to do when I got into the game was to explore the world, to see what I could see -- and when I walked over a ledge and fell to my death, the Death Realm was just one more interesting new place to explore, even as tiny as it was in those days.

And then I enjoyed it even more when they revamped it; I must\'ve spent a couple of hours exploring in there before I found my way out, but I loved every minute of it (even if I did fall right through the lower walkway several times and have to start again).  It was a fun challenge to find my way out, and it gave me quite a thrill when I\'d met the challenge and emerged victorious.

Really?  Weird.  I\'ve seen plenty of people in the Death Realm help out the newbies who ask for help.  I\'ve slowed down many a time to let newbies follow me out, if they\'ve let it be known that they\'re lost.

Heck, I\'d live there -- just imagine the sorts of things you could learn from browsing through the stacks.  The Death Realm library is where books go when they\'re destroyed, right?   :D

Also, it\'s fun to stand motionless behind the desk and have people assume you\'re a new NPC.  Especially if they ask for a quest.   ;)

Well, zanzibar, if you do indeed intend constructive criticism, perhaps you could go into a bit more detail.  What did you find \"confused\" about it?  In which section(s)?  (Times in minutes/seconds would be helpful.)
