Ah indeed 7777 did the trick..
Thanks

now all I need is to update the game.. and the updater tells me that I can\'t use auto-update since that isn\'t supported on my OS (the CLI version tells me a different story:
Your updater version is older than the server\'s..
How the heck do I upgrade then?)...

Never mind, I found the other installers.. I does make one think, when an updater tells you that it can\'t update, because there is a newer version online...

It does not look like a bug for me. More like a network (firewall?) problem on your side.

The client fails to send data out. Could it be that UDP connections in your firewall are disabled?
okay here\'s a puzzler for you.
firstly I checked that the server is online.
secondly I turned off the firewall (using firestarter)
but still the pinger in the updater would say that the server is not responding

What\'s even stranger, when I turned  the firewall on again, and tried to ping, it didn\'t even show up in the active connections.

And I\'m not an iptables wizard to be able to add new udp rules (this can\'t be done from Firestarter, at least I couldn\'t find it), and this forum does not help out in that area either.... I searched and sifted through posts dating back to 2003, and all of them stated \"firewall issue\", but none of them were wise enough to at least list a guide how to open up the UDP port in Linux.

Can someone please shed some light to where I might be able to find a possible solution?

btw, I use Ubuntu 5.10, and I\'m not a newbie to GNU/Linux. Just uneasy with iptables.

another thing to note... according to firestarter, the firewall is configured to allow all programs to outside traffic (no apps are blacklisted).. and I already added the ports (13331 and 7354) for the incoming traffic.
