Strange, how then am i having the same graphics problems as stronith then. the issus must be related. any ideas?

thanks the the problems seem to be the same. thanks for the info.

for now iv moved the over to the other theard to sort this out

iv tryed the removing the -fullbright option already, it hasnt helped i think the whole darkness problem might have been sorted with the new version, this problem is a different issue i think

iv been having the some graphics problems as Stronith (the textures arent really displaying), ingame my graphics look identical to the ones in his screenshot.

   how exactly do i go about deleating the enviroment variables CEL and CRYSTAL, i dont have much experiance with the planeshift code

iv tryed to find out if theres a new driver in the past but the support for my card is crap, i have a trident cyberalladin 32MB 128 bit integrated graphics card. the manufactures web site has no info but other sources have been conflicting on wether or not there has been an update.
    i had a issue before the upgrade to 0.3.13, all the textures were compleatly dark but i fixed it by using the \"-fullbright\" option in the shortcut target feild.
    if its not a driver issue any idea what it could be

since iv upgraded to the new 0.3.13 version iv had some strange graphics issus all the graphics are just one color (eg  a barrel is just plane brown, and a wall is just plane grey) nothing has any details. anyone have any idea how to fix this?

ye iv played lots of games that are graphicaly intence and never had any issus like this. thats why i was saying above that i didnt think it had a external cause.

ill try running it without McAfee AV running in the background but im not to sure if ill get any results quickly on it, as the problem only occurs once every week r two, so id have to try running it for a few weeks without McAfee AV before ill be able to say conclusivly.

ultimitaly i dont think the problem is dew to other software as  i have been using them for a long period and iv never found any conficts between McAfee and anything else.

has anyone else ever reported anything like this before as this would seem to be a significant issue?

ye my computer meets the specs;

Windows xp
2.6 GHz P4
1 GB ram
128 bit, 32mb trident cyberaladdin graphics
40+ GB free space
broadband connection

the integrated graphics card is a bit obscure(no one has ever heard of it) but it works very well and have never really had any problems with it.

the only other things i have running in the background is McAfee antivirus(the resident scaner) and lavasoft Ad-Watch (it just checks for adware, dodgie registry changes ect)

iv found a few times that about a minute after starting the game for no apperant reson, it causes my pc to hang. iv tryed waiting it out but nothing happens. its not just planeshift that hangs, it causes windows xp to hang, and i cant stop or exit planeshift or do anything at all. The only thing i can do is hold down the power button to turn it of.

i havnt been able to track the error down at all as every time its hung iv been ding different things within the game. the only commen factor is that in every case its happened just shortly after starting the game. also as iv had to restart every time i cant give u any diagnose file

im fairly certain that this is not a hardware or software problem external to planeshift as prior to this my pc has never hung in this fashion

instead of having the just devs develope all the buildings, allow anyone who has the ability to write c++ design the buildings, and then submit them to the devs for appruval(ie. make sure theres no bugs).
      then allow the player to sell the designs/blueprints in the game so people or guilds can then build them. this then allow for architect guilds to start which could make things realy intesting. a guild could hire a architect guild to design them a castle, shop, pub, workshop or appartments.
      this whole idea would work really well if the devs released some sort of simple editor for designing buildings, like the editors that are avalable with other games doom, morrowind ect. but this is probably asking allot.
      to address the issue of server space, all the data for the interior of the building could be stored locally on the clients pc as the data will only be needed when the player is at home and just prevent anyone from entering the room/building when there not there. there would probable be a few issues with this model for buildings owned by guilds if something in the interior changed, all the other members data would also have to updated. overall this would hugly cut down the amont of space required.
