General Discussion / Re: Happy new year and new web site
« on: January 20, 2007, 12:08:22 am »
First of all, great work on the site, very pleasing for the user and the eye.

I haven't been around for a while and I don't know what has been going on, so I assume the picture on the main page is a screenshot? Looks very nice, but the tower caught my eye. I wonder what impressions it has in addition to the base architecture of the kran? For it resembles my unofficial fan art challenge entry quite much (spikes on the top and the overall look):

I tried to find some information on the tower but find none, so could someone help me on this?:)

The name "Asiersoon" sounds suspicious like "I see you soon".
Just have to say this.. I'm afraid "Godaken" is "Good day again". :)

I didn't even know there were people giving out weapons and such for free to beggars... Well it doesn't matter at this stage of the game where you put those weapons though. The most annoying part in this is.. What are these people doing here? I don't see any way of satisfaction they could get from this.. For at least that one surely wasn't roleplaying a beggar. Although, some people get their satisfaction from shovels or curtains or.. I don't know. The way these people should be dealed with has been discussed several times and I think one of the best solutions is a clever tutorial which would hopefully decrease their amount. Some quest or something which would test their roleplaying skills and such. I think at least banning isn't very effective.. They'll always find a way back.

All I can say is bleh, better luck next time:P

Well, I think the most important lesson for me is the time usage. It went quite down the drain because of that.. And I surely willl take the hints given:) Although I think I'll go on with a more skethcy style..

I hope the next contest will also be a nice and challenging one:)

Oh man the dwarf really gave his everything just to make that one shield... If that\'s what it takes, I really reconsider becoming a blacksmith:/

Good job anyways. Keep up the good work. :)

The first full scale link doesn\'t seem to work very well, and the second was accidentially a link to the resized image. Fixed now, so everyone can see the endless flaws in it. :P

Very good design on that. I like it very much. And in my opininon it looks better in the small picture.

That\'s because I didn\'t have enough time to finish it properly... (my time usage sucks) I can only hope you won\'t see the mistakes and all that are burning my eyes. :P

Oh disappointment, I really killed my time... But I still have 9 hours! Plus the extra 2 hours given by GMT! That\'ll be enough. :)

...Or not.

Update: Or maybe it will.

Still much to be done but I think I\'ll make it... I really needed to push my limits again to be able to compete against Gentar.

We\'ll see what my work will turn out, hopefully not total crap.

Update II: Finished

Here\'s the resized version:

And you can see it in full scale here.
Alternative link here.
Phew, just in time... at least on my clock:/

I have thought of creating a guild like this many times before, but I always knew I wouldn\'t have enough time for that. So I\'m very glad someone had the effort to do this.

Nice work on the guild overall, but it still needs some organizing. In mining there could be separate departments of managers, miners and those who run the logistics (transportation, storing, trading). Transporting of the minerals could easily be done by subcontractors in the beginning.

As said, this really boosts the economy. And it was truly a nice idea of renting manpower from different guilds to get your guild build up.

I\'ll look if I\'ll have time to join/support your guild after I finish my studies for this spring.

Oh, and I liked the website, the book theme suits fine for a mining guild. Altough, I would give that logo some more style. PM me if you want any help on the website art. \"CV\" :)

I just read the instructions and the comments on the 2d challenge #1, and I was wondering how much weight should be on the background on this one?

At first I thought background etc. was an important part of the concept, but does this consider the 2d or only the 3d?

The thing Choren said

Sorry I don\'t understand Swedish... Or any other demon language to that matter.

Anyways, I don\'t see how they could actually implement music composing depending on character skills.. At first you could only use a part of the notes, and when you\'re better, you can make chords and all? : P

Maybe certain songs become available meanwhile you gain with the skill? At first you could sing something which would sound like a kran in a shower and afterwards something better. Same would go for playing of an instrument.

Personally I\'d like to see real composing in the game, but on the otherhand that could lead us hearing some IRL music ingame :/

Though I am not a magical tria.

It\'s quite well done for a MS Paint work and with some help of that Gimp... But you can surely do much better with that photoshop you had...

For example here\'s a quick draft I did with Paint Shop Pro:

Edit: Moved to photobucket, so you can hopefully actually see it.

VERTA! TER?ST?! HEVOSIA!

Hevosia? ROFL XD

That\'s just what Jone Nikula said on this Finnish Idols Crap ;)
In translation for non-finnish people: Blood! Steel! Horses! :D

I\'ve noticed that finnish language in songs is not a problem for most foreigners. Viikate relies on lyrics quite much so you\'re right on that it\'s good to know what they\'re singing. Viikate ain\'t so much on the Heavy side, but at least reminds me of CMX, so this might be for you, Karyuu ;)

Stam1na is an unbelieveably remarkable newcomer who also sings in finnish. Their lyrics are just ingenious and the playing fits on them like a fist in the face. Kadonneet Kolme Sanaa is just the greatest song there is, at the moment.

Oh and swedish people are widely hated in Finland :)

Yeah Norther has a number of great songs like Unleash Hell, Midnight Walker, Death Unlimited. And I love their Offspring cover Smash :)

Here\'s some scandinavian bands you might want to check out if you haven\'t before:
Finland: Stam1na, Thy Serpent, Viikate, Warmen
Sweden: In Flames, Therion
Norway: Sirenia

Warmen is the soloband of COB keyboardist Janne Warman, so most people here might be interested in that. Many excellent bands have been mentioned here... And that Kalmah rocks! \\w/

If you want, I\'d like to give it a go with my PSP :)

I enjoy making websites, at least graphics for them, I could give a hand for your site too, if needed. Or is the website building going on?

Yet that doesn\'t solve that you can see one\'s experience in the description.

Monster\'s evaluation is pointless too. Surely everyone can see that a rat is harder to kill than a tefusang, although small size can sometimes be misleading. And if your character is a dumb one, he can always give it a try and jump into the mouth of a consumer.

This isn\'t quite what the thread is originally about, but close enough.
