Mac OSX Specific Issues / This bug keeps on killing me!
« on: December 16, 2005, 10:30:57 pm »
Hi,

I don\'t know whether to post this here or on the general server bugs forum.  Anyway, I have died a total of three times  (in the world of the living), and each time it is on the stairs leading down to the sewers behind the tavern.  Every time I\'m on the top of the stairs the graphics go all \'wonky\'.  The stairs seem to turn into an escalator, and once when I tried to turn around, the stairs rotated around me instead!  When I finally try to go back to the top, I am told I fell off the edge of the world and have died, even though there isn\'t any drop at the top of the stairs.  Then the client crashes.  When I log on again I am in the land of the dead.

Anyhow I posted this before but here it is again, my computer is a 400mhz G3 powerbook w/ 512mb.  I am using a high speed connection w/ a wifi card.  Yes I know it\'s bad.  But this IS my new computer.  It is all I can afford now.  I don\'t know my frames-per-second,  they are not displayed in my attack and status window like the guide said.  But it is slow.

I also had three other lesser problems:

a)  I mentioned this before but I have something to add.  When I start the client the start up screen uses telescoping screenshots of my desktop (picture inside a picture inside a picture).  This makes it almost impossible to log on when I am NOT in full screen mode.  If I do log on when I am NOT in full screen mode, a lot of the walls and surfaces in the game are covered with fragments of pictures from my desktop instead of their natural colors and textures.

b)  In the death world, when you turn left after leaving the tunnel to get to the first ladder, every thing is almost completely black to me until I see the ladder.  Is this true for everybody?  I can\'t tell you how often I died trying to reach that ladder, but all the experienced players run straight to it full speed.  I have to count my steps.

c)  I have also had some problems going into attack mode, especially with the right click method.  The shortcut method seems to work better, and so does switching defensive/offensive stances.  It is embarrassing to be nibbled to death by a rat while my character just stands there like a shlub :/

Anyhow, any help would be greatly appreciated,

        -ben

p.s.  If you\'ll excuse me, I have to count my steps out of the death world... again!

Computer type: (Powerbook-Pismo/Firewire
Mac OS Version (10.3.9):

Processor: (400, G3)  Yeah, I know.  I have no business here until I can afford a better computer.

RAM: 512
Video Card: (ATY,RageM3, 8MB)

Planeshift runs (y/n): no
Average FPS: N/A

Platform-specific bugs encountered: After I double click the app. the planeshift window does this thing where it displays a telescoping screenshot of my desktop.  i.e. a picture inside a picture inside a picture.  Everything is illegible.  So I launch it in full screen mode which is only mildly better since it has less of a screenshot to telescope.  The login window says at first \'wait 100\' then changes to \'fail 100\'.  After I try to connect it says the server is either down or unreachable and to check the website.  It does allow me to quit.  And the startup music is quite nice.  Let me know whether I should just give up and delete the Planeshift folder.  Oh yes one more thing, I have used both the included and the jar updaters.
