Mac OSX Specific Issues /

Hmm, well, I\'m on Mac OS X Tiger, and for some reason I couldn\'t run updater.jar. I\'m using updater-old.jar. Psclient runs fine, but it just freezes up mid-load.

Mac OSX Specific Issues / Can't load world...

I\'ve tried a lot of things when trying to fix this, but nothing seems to work:

When I launch psclient, everything goes as usual until I click \"Join Game\". Then the game begins loading, but when it says \'Loading World\', everything freeezes and I have to shut down. I tried running the updater, but even that didn\'t fix anything... any suggestions?

Do you have the correct updater? You should run updater.jar OR updater-old.jar if you have one, and if not, read the READ BEFORE POSTING thread at the top of the forum. Running the updater might solve your problem, or it may have to do with another problem.

*Laughs,* Not too helpful, are we? If you are a good roleplayer there is much more to the game than killing monsters and things. A useful command to know is

/me

For example:

/me smiles cheerfully.

would appear as:

/ smiles cheerfully.

It\'s really a boost to the roleplay experience to not have to use asterisks all the time, but don\'t think of it as setting aside time to roleplay when you do it in PS. Think of it as setting aside time to  talk out of character when you do it in PS. Everywhere you go, you can roleplay. There are some useful commands such as

/greet

That have been implemented that only help to the roleplay experience. To many of the newer users, PlaneShift, as stated before in this thread, is treated as a video game.

... Well, it is sort of a video game.

But my point is, ingore the buggy-alpha-ness (New word! Yay!) and just go out there and roleplay! Have fun!

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / Oodles of Glitches
« on: February 05, 2006, 07:15:49 pm »
I don\'t know if this is specific to Mac OS X, but that is the platform I am using. Today I was in the sewers and I fought a rat... big whoop, right? Well, things were acting extremely laggy and the system seemed to think I had begun an aggressive attack AFTER I had already killed the rat, but that\'s not all. I was stuck in one frame of the attack position as I walked/slid about, and the fighting music was still playing, all the while me trying several ways to stop the attack.

Still I couldn\'t stop my attack, and I tried fighting something to see if a fight would end the glitch, but just as I started the attack, psclient closed all on its own. No big deal, but that was weird.

So I try to log back on, and I get a message telling me to wait 30 seconds and blah blah... so I do so, but afterward I again tried to connect, and I received a message saying that my \"character was still in combat or casting a spell when you disconnected. Please wait for combat to finish and try again\". But only one problem... The attack was never-ending, at least when I saw it, and now I cannot log back on to my best character (or any character for that matter). Please help me! Even about 30 minutes after the glitch I still can\'t log back in! Help!

Edit: (Fixed confusing spelling error.)

Mac OSX Specific Issues / Can't connect to server...
« on: January 16, 2006, 08:57:45 am »
I have tried restarting several times now, but near Fragnetics, it only says \'Fail 100\'. I\'m fairly new to the game, so I don\'t know if it is just experiencing downtime, or if it is my computer/version preventing it from working, but I\'ve checked the Mac Status thread and all seems to be fine. Yes, I have searched the forum to try to find similar thread, but none of them seem to be of help to me. So I ask of you - please help! I\'m using Crystal Blue version 0.3.012. Thanks!

Edit: Sorry about that. I have updated and that issue no longer resides... BUT...

Psclient will not launch. I have updated my version and apparently something in the update is stopping it from launching. It opens for about 3 seconds, then quits unexpectedly, ever since the update. I can\'t even get in-game to tinker with options. I tried running an older version (freshly downloaded Mac version - same as before without the update) with the updated files, and it works fine (other than not being able to actually play because I received a message saying the version was too old.)

Problem? Plain old version: Can\'t connect to server. Fully updated version: Closes automatically. Old psclient.app with updated files: Works (including connection) except for the versions not matching.

Sorry if this seems sort of rude. Just trying to report an error. :)
