The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: "First times" in PlaneShift
« on: October 03, 2006, 06:00:04 pm »
Wow Proglin, I never would have guessed.

Hi everyone... yes I've been away for a while.  I don't have a "first time" story, but I must say that I'd never been hit on as much until I started playing PS! ROTFL. I considered creating a male character so that wouldn't happen, but I though "Nah, this won't be like all those poker-room chat rooms(Which get pretty bad if your a girl btw).  Anyways, I think I've gotten hit on by someone from every generation.  No offense to the guys, but it's kinda weird.  :sweatdrop: I guess that's my first-time story.

I could tell you though that I became queen of the DR from the very beginning.  I got lost down there for hours the first time I went on. (How fun!) Back in the days when it was pretty tiny and nothing was really there... Well, that's my reason for not having a first time story.

If I get a good one in the mean time though, I'll let u all know.  :D

The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: The Butterfly Effect
« on: October 03, 2006, 05:44:29 pm »
The Butterfly Effect 2, the movie, was launched these weeks, and I really had to see it, since the first one sure was very good. Impressive movie, as good as the original. I won't enter in details, I'll let the movie to be a surprize for who didn't see it yet. Though, what I want to talk about, is the main theory from which all starts. The butterfly effect, that is a more common referrence to the "famous" chaos theory.

In meteorology, the idea says that the flapping of a butterfly's wing will create a disturbance that in the chaotic motion of the atmosphere will become amplified eventually to change the large scale atmospheric motion, so that the long term behavior becomes impossible to forecast. The small wings of a butterfly can create a tornado on the other side of the world?

For more information I suggest going here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaos_theory

Since I started talking about the movie, I wanted to start a discussion about this theory, and its connection with shaping time. If we manage to go back in time, and we'll eventually change our past, how much will it matter for our future? And, in what way?

In the movies, every change would have had catastrophic "replies" in the future...

As a few questions, do you believe it's possible to go back in time? Can we change something, and have a different future? Because, some religions might say it's possible, but whatever we'll change, it won't matter in the present/future, because some things are just made to happen that way. Uhh, true? Destiny? Maybe not.

My own opinion would be, that if we can go back and change something, it will of course alter the future, though, what it matters, is that we can shape our every moment. Destiny? Neah.

I miss the "smart" discussions in here, oh, greetings!

It wouldn't be probable that a butterfly would cause a tornado on the other side of the world.  I say this for a few reasons.

If the resulting event caused by the action of the sourse were proportionate, then the distance and scale of the reaction would have to be proportionate.  What I'm trying to say is that the butterfly fluttering it's wings (If not counteracted by an outside force) would have to follow the principles of logical growth.  The force would expand at a set rate lets say x2 for the sake of arguement.  If you put that with distance and say 1 was the original force of the fluttering and each graduation after that progressed per every inch (hypothetically), than it would be x2 for 2 inches x3 for 3 and so on and so forth.  It would then be logical to say that if the distance was far enough there would be an effect great enough to warrent concern, but probably would not be anywhere near us especially if you take geometry into account in which the spherical nature of the earth would be taken into account.  Relying on a straight line to be sustained in order to maintain a constant rate of progression, you would surely bypass earth and continue on.  Then there is atmosphere, or lack there of to take into consideration.  That would probably hinder it greatly if not stop it for sure.

What I'm getting at is that it is pointless to think about such complex thoughts as there are a seemingly infinate number of variables to consider, and you really can't so why bother?   :whistling:  The fact is, no one knows for sure if it will have any sort of affect.  Why trouble yourself about it.  Trust me, I think and circles and it isn't fun. :P

Yeah, so there.  I hope you all enjoyed my silly ramblings on the validity of that theory. (With mispellings and all  :P)

First let me say to the Dev, you people are gods! It is totally amazing what you have accomplished and any MMORPG would kill for the chance to have you design things for them, but some of us are having trouble with the major lag experienced when looking at the waterfall.  Is there anything we can do about it, or are some updates required.

Thank you,

Hm.  No wonder it's been taking forever to get stonger.  I've been training Strength instead of the weapons themselves. Oh woah is me! *cries*

At least now I know though... thank you.  :sweatdrop:

Wow. I hadn't considered bosses to be a part of PS just because it just doesn't have the feeling for it.  I guess I think Mario Brothers though, since I'm a noob at the MMORPG realm myself. (PS being the only MMORPG I've ever played... but what other one would you need?) Bosses sound very cool though.  I'm looking foward to it.  Thanks for the info everyone. ^.^

True... though I can't knock platinum because that is the main source of my income.  Maybe, though I really HATE to say it  :-X , there should be greater obstacles in the way of getting to the platinum mines.  (So painful to suggest  X-/ ) But I agree that it does allow for guilds to be made with less consideration as it is less of a financial risk now.  Though it certainly would kill my bank account! Gah!

I will. Just putting it out there.  :whistling: Seeing if my dreams have a chance of becoming reality.  :sweatdrop:  ;)

Well, Animal Parts/Animal Magic?..  :P  :) Also they could be used for their properties like the rotten meat from Grendols has stuff to make you sick if you eat it... because it's rotten.  That could be used along with other materials to make a super potion that makes your enemy sick.  Haven't gotten all the kinks out...  :sweatdrop: But it's a possibility.  Just take a bit of imagination I think... and maybe just a little insanity.  :sweatdrop:

Muhahaha...  :sorcerer:

General Discussion / Questions...
« on: July 02, 2006, 09:31:17 pm »
Couple of questions I have:

I am wondering if it is possible to all Characters to create potions (in the future) by using animal parts to possibly raise stats temporarilly like other potions currently available or do other things like cast spells or something when shattered or thown at an enemy.

What I'm getting at is: Is it possible with the list of potential skills such as alchemy and herbology or other such skills to be able to create such complex skills or will that route not be explored by the PS rpg.

Would you think that it is worth it to impliment such a process or would it be more practical to stick to making only things along the lines of what is already available for sale by merchants.

I'm also curious about dyes for hair and such.  Is there a possibility in the future that we would be allowed to create them ourselves from things such as flowers and plants and would that fall under Herbology or would Herbology be restricted to healing-type uses for plants or what is edible.

In regards to weapons, I am wondering if we could maybe use Herbology or such skills to advance our fighting skills.  Perhaps Herbology may include study of poisons in plants and if so we may be able to create some to coat weapons with in order inflict more damage.

Continueing on the weapons/Herbology questions, is it possible at a much later time to have Sacs filled with potions or powders made from Herbology/Alchemy that could be used against an enemy if thrown to stun them or cause other effects?  I don't know if that has been explored or not but since I was already close to the topic I felt it would be the opportunity to bring it up.

Just want to know you opinions on these topics/questions and what you think will reasonably happen or not happen.

Thank you,
Harena A.

Really?  ::| Wow... last time I order beers from Kada-El tavern, guess they make them a little too strong!  :sweatdrop:

Ah, well all jokes aside I thought the Pets did. Must have stumbed across something else and thought it was a stats screen.

I'll just wait until someone tells me that they have their own window.  It'll cut down on these embarasing situations I get myself into!  :-[ Sorry.

I'm wondering if this has been brough up at all, forgive me if it has...

When you access the Pet's stat screen, it is not like all the other ones that our characters have.  I'm wondering if it is a glitch or something, or if the Pet's stat screen will have a different format than ours.

I realize that this question will not be answered now most likely, as I'm not supposed to be in the loop on the details of the next update but I felt I should put it out there to make sure it will get answered when the update does come.  Wanted to make sure you guys were aware of that.  Probably are, but a Demorian's got to be sure. ^.^
