Yeah, kind of. That one place where I got stuck for quite some time could or couldn\'t be said to be just the path going on, depending on how you view it (quite literally ;) ).

Yup. If you keep following the obvious path, you\'ll finally get to a crossroads where there are libraries to the left and right. In the left library you\'ll find that crystal.

Actually, I didn\'t have opportunity yet to update to .13 on SuSE. I\'ll do so (hopefully) this evening and let you know if that changed anything. And I\'ll try out your tips. :)

(EDIT)

Okay, now things get interesting.

While I don\'t know what might be of interest to you in the dmesg output, here\'s some things for you to contemplate:

psc doesn\'t exist although I just ran the updater without any error.
sh -x et cetera returned \"cannot execute binary file\" (?!!!)
./psclient.bin returned \"Bus-Zugriffsfehler\" (in English: Bus access error\")

cat psclient shows the file to be not empty.

Maybe I should mail you the dmesg output? To where?

P. S. I should add that it didn\'t matter whether I ran it all under KDE or windowmaker.

(EDIT 2)

Okay, deleted everything except the arts folder and started over again. The game itself now comes up fine... only that my char is everything I see, the world around me is dark. Wait, I saw one other char gliding by, without any movement.

I\'ll have to keep working on that obviously. :)

(EDIT 3)

OK, with \"-fullbright\" it works, at least using the windowmaker. Seems like under KDE the artsd won\'t let the client run. Oh well, I can live with that, at least for a while ;)

And did I... wait, I didn\'t!... so let me say that it runs much less laggy under linux, compared with my XP install! *eg*

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) /

No, that was the case only some times. By far not every time it happened.

I\'m getting the impression that it\'s related to slow server response times. Maybe something get\'s messed up when you try to stop attack, then start it again before the server has digested it internally. I\'ll have to keep watching. For what it\'s worth, recently I didn\'t encounter that problem. I hope it stays that way ;)

I guess I should add that I only had notably many crashes for one afternoon. Granted that I\'m not online 24/7 *g*, but so far it seems to have been a temporary problem, maybe weekend-related... :)

Heya,

is it just me or is the new release somewhat unstable compared to the .12 version? It seems that currently I\'m getting thrown out the game every 10 minutes, either with \"no server response\" or a client-side runtime error... (?)

Yup, thanks Karyuu. I\'ll try to get back into the game and city now and try again as soon as possible. :)

(EDIT)

For the benefit of those reading through this thread after me, it\'s working now. Discarding the quest and getting it again did the trick. ;)

Heya,

it seems I\'m more and more unable to attack. I just got killed by a rat because I just couldn\'t make my Char hit back. It just stood there, axe and shield in hand, and awaited the death bite. *argh*

Having read about  a similar problem in some thread, I tried to stop attack and then start it again - no use.

(Plus, the game just crashed right at the exit of the death realm. Man, this day wants to get me down for sure...)

Yeah I know. Sorry if I sound sarcastic. After it has been hinted to me that I might just be talking to the wrong NPC I\'ve checked the entire warehouse area again, and I can positively confirm that it was the right one. There is only one weaver in a tent in the warehouse area. Unless, that is, Brintec\'s description to that end is faulty. *g*

Agreed 100 % - it sounds weird. But still, there\'s no error message, no nothing. It exactly looks like:

(path)> ./psclient
(path>

And nothing else. And yes, I get back to the shell prompt immediately. Not even half a second of delay.

Well, I haven\'t been to the Enki city again since yesterday evening, but when I was there for the last time I saw several PCs climbing up those trees growing at the inn building (when you enter the city, the building you\'re directly looking at). They somehow got up by climbing those trees, which makes me wonder...

(I tried to do the same, no luck...)

Linux Specific Issues / psclient: Exits immediately, no error message?!
« on: February 26, 2006, 10:41:10 am »
Heya,

I left a comment referring to this problem on another thread in this particular forum already, but I\'m not sure whether it has received the proper attention (I know that from myself... once you got your firm impression of a thread, sometimes you don\'t realize if something that might point in a different direction is mentioned *g* ), so... this one:

I\'ve installed the psclient and updater according to the corresponding thread in this forum (well, before the latest upgrade that is... I didn\'t try it after that so far) and found that launching the psclient immediately returns me to the shell prompt. I get no error message whatsoever, /var/log/messages also reveals nothing of help, I just get the impression that the program finishes its task at once (yeah right, as if I wouldn\'t know it\'s supposed to do a _little_ bit more than that *g* ). Due to that I\'m currently forced to play PS on LoseXP which sucks royally *shudder*.

I\'m running SuSE 9.2 with all the latest patches and KDE 3.3.

Any ideas?

What other weaver in a tent in the warehouse area is there?! None in the Enki city for sure!

*looks puzzled*

*edit*

Okay, now that I discarded the quest and re-started it, it worked. I guess I don\'t have to understand this, do I? :)

Glad to learn things are okay now. But still avoid double-posting ;) Editing a first post to add more info instead of making another before others have replied is a good idea.

...yes I know that several GMs have announced that the carpet quest is definitely solvable. If so, there must be a bug somewhere on my side. I have tried practically _every_ possible choice of words to get that damned weaver to give me _any_ reply, and nothing works. The only reply I get is \"I don\'t understand you\".

Unless I get at least _some_ functional hint, I herewith declare this quest to be officially unsolvable. Yes I\'m frustrated. How much simpler can one choose his words than \"I need carpets\" or \"Brintec needs carpets\"?!
