Thank you.  Those others worked.  I would have scrutinized my end more, but both computers weren\'t working over here.

The \"EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 0000005E\" is not a linux specific problem.  I have it with windows.  Replacing the files only gives me a \"application failed to initialize properly (0xc000007b)\" error instead.

EDIT: I\'m running on a 2.8GHz P4 with WinXP SP2

EDIT2:  Awesome!!  I just tried to update on a different computer and got an identical error.  Both are essentially the same computer--same CPU capabilities, both NVidia cards, everything.  Main diff is that one is a laptop, the other is not.  Both have fully updated drivers.

Also, unless there is a mirror to get the clean install app from, I can\'t get it.  Network blocks BitTorrent.

EDIT3:  Missed that last post there, sorry about that.

Newbie Help (Start Here) / Want to play together
« on: February 25, 2006, 06:06:15 pm »
Hey.  My friend and I are joining this game together, and would prefer to be able to team up when we finally get the game running.  I am given to understand that different race start at different places, correct?  Is there any way I could find out which races we would need to play to be able to start at least somewhat geographically close to each other in-game?  Or are we just going to have make our characters the same race?

Well, there\'s no way to get Torrent going.  With all inbound ports blocked, and no way to change router settings, it\'s going to run at a nice, smooth, 3 days \'til download complete.

Not meaning to be rude guys, but COME ON AND GET THE MIRRORS UP!!  The game looks AWESOME!

*sigh*...*breathe*...okay now...

*edit*

Can I get an order of magnitude for how long it will be before .013 is on the mirrors?  Are we talking days or week or what?  If it is the latter, maybe I should try Torrent despite the 3 day waiting period.

Do you have to have 0.3.013 to connect to servers?  I know the server\'s up, but it ain\'t working on my end (only have 0.3.012).  Am I just going to have to wait until 0.3.013 moves to the mirrors? (hate....bittorreant...)

I\'m a bit short on RAM, but it\'s DDR2, and my page file is plenty big enough, so I didn\'t figure that was a problem.

Seems more like a bunch of hullabaloo in how XP handles the DOS virtual machine.

*edit*

Can\'t figure out how to fix it.  If it would use the virtual memory, I\'d be all set.  I can\'t seem to figure out how to get it to do so however....

That\'s the one I already got my hands on.  It hasn\'t been working when I have tried it.  Just opens an application window and shuts it, without doing anything, when I try to run it.

*edit*

When I try to actually run the .exe file froma DOS prompt, I get a \"Program is too big to fit in memory.\" error....

Please avoid posting two or more successive posts before others have replied. Just edit your last post to add new information :) Thanks! --Karyuu

Yeah....not working.

Is there not any way to get a working, if dated, copy from one of the web servers?  I could update to 0.3.013 when it becomes available to me...

But open in what way?

I can connect to a server, but if the server needs to connect to me it\'s not gunna work.  Incoming traffic is blocked, but as long as I establish the connection I can do prety much what I want.

Does bittorrent require an outside connection to connect to the computer I am on to work?  If so, the there is no way for me to use it (network blocks all incoming connections not on the http port).  If not, why is bittorrent going impossibly slow (5 day download time)?

The network I\'m on runs at cable/DSL-ish speeds when it\'s busy, and I am running windows XP.

The problem with bittorrent is it doesn\'t work for me.  It goes at a whopping 0-1 kb/s.  According to it\'s calculations, it should only that about 5 days to download....

Operating System: Windows XP SP2

Okay.  I\'m just trying to install this game, and can\'t seem to figure out how.  The only version you have in the main download page is 0.3.013, but it does not appear to be available through any of the channels you prodvide.  I grabbed \"PlaneShift_CBV0.3.013.exe\" from one of the servers it took me to when I tried to download 0.3.013, but the file doesn\'t appear to do anything beyond opening a text-based application window and immediately closing it.

Do I just need to wait until you\'re done doing whatever you\'re doing with the new update or is there any way to install without having to wait that long?

Also, note that I am bittorrent illiterate, so if the solution involes bittorrent, spell it out for me like like the newbie I am.
