« on: March 14, 2006, 09:45:36 pm »
I have a Ati Radeon 9100 and it\'s a 8.0dirextx card

I am thinking of buying a new card and want to know.

Will this whole game be based on Opengl  or will you make the game  Ati compatible also?

Because right now I experience, extremely low fps and the loading times are accually killing my hdd.

OK..

well  then maybe you should make mining more rewarding somehow then.

because right now.. it takes alot of time and it\'s not even fun to stand mining 30 minutes just to make 1-2K in money selling diamond crystals.

Its so boring and you also get alot more by just killing monsters.

you get faster xp and more xp in several kategorys when slaying monsters and you can also loot stuff and sell it.

It doesnt feel very rewarding when I go with my dwarf at lvlv 3 mining and dont get upp mining levels and just stand the in one spot very long time   and wait wait wait. and get some money and almost no xp and the things you mine can\'t even be used for anything except being sold to 1 npcs in the town.

Or if there\'s a better way  maybe you could tell me then because it seems totally impossible to learn this game without asking 1 million questions about everything   lol.

(still like the game so that you know) it has great potential.

Wish list / automining
« on: March 06, 2006, 09:16:23 pm »
Automining should be made for the game.

I am talking about a command that gives you the possiblity to mine a certain of number of times before the characer stops.

Like  lvl 3 means you can automine 3 times.

This would save some time and also make the game more rewarding when getting higher lvlv in mining.

there coudl be a downside for it so It doesnt get too good.

for example.   you can\'t interrupt automining    which means if your under attack you\'ll propably die.

About mining.

OK.

Finding places to dig wasn\'t really so hard as I thought, when I asked around abit.

Now, hm  I am lvl 3 dwarf miner and another person is a Elf lvlv1 miner and we both stand on the same place digging same thing and he gets as many diamond crystals as I do when we mine for the same amount of time.

hm.  When I had my 20 he had his 19 .

Uhm  ok could anyone please explain?

Is there any point at all to accually spent money on training the mining skill which hovewer is almost impossible to get any practical experience in.

Another thing.
Mining for coal seems to be useless because it has a market value of 0  and it can\'t be used for anything else ?   am I wrong about this ?

OK.

automapping ?   hm  I think you guys have REALLY really really   not understood at all what I am trying to tell you.

automapping = maybe really really hard.

I am talking about the ability to use paper and pen and paint a map,

Just as in Microsoft paint brush.

you hold down the mouse button and move your mouse to paint ?

I am talking about \"custom made\" maps IN THE GAME.

Like you buy an empty scroll. and a bottle with INK  and a pencil.

Then you dubbelklick on the pencil and an it ways for next command that should be shown with some kind of symbol.  and then you klick on the map you ahve in your inventory and it open upp.

for example.

lvl 1 cartography.

Inventory:
1 empty scroll
1 pencil
1 bottle of black ink

you dubbelklick on you pencil and hover your pointer to the map and klick on it and it opens up in a window.   Now you draw some lines on the \"scroll\" and  when you are ready you hover mouse pointer down to some bttons at the lower end of the window and choose to save/or not to save.

if you save the lines on the \"scroll\" you made they will be permanent and the scroll becomes a \"map scroll of :(what you save it as)\" item.

if you don\'t save it will be just an empty scroll again until you use it again and save it.

How to get the xp to work in this kind of situation is easy.

The pen and ink could be the suffering part.

When you try to save, if you dont have enought lvlv you will loose your pen and ink and it won\'t save the map you did.

If you have enought lvlv it will be saved but you loose 1 pen and 1 bottle of ink and get the new map in the inventory.

xp can go upp depending on how many times you succeed with making a map.  or something like that.

In this way you can get false maps from players  and also true maps and it would become a fun thing in the game to make your own custom made maps and sell them to players.

It also creates a realistic market system where you as a buyer accually have to learn who is trustworthy with real maps and who is not.

Also this goes for the Seller.  Who would buy a map when everyone sayz our a scammer ?  So you need to acually explore and write good maps.

There could be different colors of ink also making the maps more correct with green trees and brown roads and names of places in black.

This could also be a thing you can use when your a higher lvlv cartographer

There doesnt have to be ANY automaps..because if this is gonna be a real rpg   it also needs to ahve player made maps.   not automapping that would be stuped.

It\'s not rocket science for f**ck sake.

I am not talking about any advanced system.

I am talking of a simpel map making utility.

Well anyway,  when I got the time I am gonna use \"for example Python\"  and make this damn  item that can be opened and turned into a player painted map.

If this turns upp to be an easy thing..  you all shall call me  your  absolute god for all eternity..  damnit.

If it will be hard,  I will give you all an apology and post on my own homepage,  when it\'s ready that I am really sorry for putting this thread upp at all.

I Don\'t think  making a map is that hard.

For the moment I will try to make an item that you can open and it get\'s bigger,  and you can use basic \"paint\" abilitys to paint your map on it  and after that save it.

it will not be able to raise any xp,  it will not even require any skill except the items paper, pen and ink.
\"this means I have to make 3 items \"

With these 3 items the player will be able to make a map.

Then I guess putting it into the source code of the game I guess that it\'s there the problem will be, But it can be solved also.

There is nothing impossible, somethings is jsut very hard but if you know how to do it, it isn\'t so hard anymore.

So if some one who knows how to make it would do it it would certainly spare me a hell of alot of time.

omg,, I wish I new how..   I would make it my self

*edit*

for someone who can just a bit of programming it should not be so hard.

what would it take ?

like ? one command line for the values of  the map img.
like? a command starts a script that makes x,y print 1 plack spot for evey 3rd pixel when the mouse moves and button is pressed down while in the map window, When releasing the mouse button is stops the script and the blackspots stay.  Then a button that appears when you close the map telling if you want to save the print made,  and an alternative script telling what happens when pressing yes and no..  and so on.

If I knew programming this would not take more than 1 hour to make..

then putting it in the source code and get it to work.. well  that should not be so hard eather...  or is it?

I\'m I totally wrong about this ?   do take in aspect that I do not know anything about programming.

Please avoid posting two or more successive posts before others have replied. Just edit your last post to add new information :) Thanks! --Karyuu
