Development Deliberation / Post Build Event Error when building PS
« on: April 01, 2006, 12:42:29 am »
Well after Sourseforge decided to cooperate I was able to get the source code I needed. I have learned alot about how compilers work in the process, but have got CS and CEL built (CEL had a few warnings, but I believe it works right).
However PS is still giving me some problems, it will not build because I get this error:

Performing Post-Build Event...
The system cannot find the file specified.
Could Not Find c:\\PS Development\\planeshift\\*.lib
Project : error PRJ0019: A tool returned an error code from \"Performing Post-Build Event...\"
I\'m using MS Visual C++ 2005 Express (msvc8, I believe) and this happens on all but 7 of the projects.
Doing a Google search I found how to tell what the post build commands were, but I\'m not sure if I have to change them, or if I missed a step on the build instructions. Any ideas out there?

General Discussion / Helpful NPC phrases
« on: March 18, 2006, 07:37:06 pm »
I have been trying to figure out some of the common phrases for NPC\'s the last few weeks. While I have learned some that most will respond to I was wondering if there are any more that I could use.
I don\'t know if this is to game-specific for the forum, if it is I don\'t mind the thread being closed, but I think it would help some newer players get a better idea of the dialog.
These are some helpful phrases I\'ve found:
Do you have
What do you do?
Tell me about (doesn\'t work on all NPC\'s)
What is this place? (not all NPC\'s)
give me (sometimes this gets a funny response)
What ? (if the word fits in the question you may get a response, Trasok is an example)
How are you?

Any other phrases you\'ve found to help? Or am I wrong in some of these? Let me know (or close the thread) :)

Development Deliberation / Still can't connect
« on: March 17, 2006, 04:27:06 am »
Unfortunatly I still cannot connect to source forge to get CVS, I have noticed a few posts that seem to indicate that ppl are getting the latest CVS in the past few days. So I\'m beginning to wonder if it is on my side, anything I can check?
I did try the link to the tarballs, but could not find that file.
Actually looking at it again I may have done it wrong, I just noticed the lftp before the http. Do I need to enter that into win cvs?
Thanks for the help

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) /
« on: March 16, 2006, 12:27:40 am »
Has this been fixed yet? I know you can get rid of hides, but I havn\'t seen a place to sell other parts. This has got to be frustrating for newbies who only have rat parts to sell.
Are we getting new NPC\'s or are they going to have one of the current one buy them?

OK, at least I know I\'m not messing up the command line.

Any way I can have a better chance to get it? Or do I just have to find a time when there are fewer people requesting files?
And do I have to go thru this each time there is an updated CVS?

Development Deliberation / Problem connecting to sourceforge
« on: March 11, 2006, 09:54:42 pm »
Hi,
I\'m trying to get PS built on my computer (Win 2000), but Win CVS will not connect to sourceforge to download the source code.
I have tried CS, CEL, planeshift modules, it all comes back with the following error:
cvs [checkout aborted]: connect to cvs.sourceforge.net:2401 failed: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
the command line I am using (this one for CS) is: cvs -w -d :pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/crystal checkout -P -- CS (in directory C:\\PS Development)
I got this from the build guide for MS Visual C++
I\'m thinking it is a problem on my end, just not sure what it might be. Possibly related, I get intermitent \"502 Bad Gateway\" errors when I try to load pages in the planeshift folders on sourceforge. Hit refresh and it works.
Any ideas on what the problem may be?
