Forum and Website Discussions / Planeshift Badware?
« on: January 14, 2008, 10:19:14 am »
When I enter "Planeshift" in google i get the "This site may harm your computer" page.

You might want to sort this out with Google...

When I ran Planeshift Setup for the first time on my vista installation (Ultimate ed., PS client 019), i got the system-message "this program may not be installed properly". My PlaneShift Setup settings do not apply, unless when i launch PS Client from the "launch" button in PS Setup. When i start planeshift through the startmenu, the settings from PS Setup are ignored.

Is this a known issue or "is it just me"?

Oowkay, i had no idea.

Reach it? Are you out of your mind? :o :sorcerer:

In sector Ojaroad1 pos -385.61, 30.11, 134.61 there is a big mountain nearby.

When you look to the top of the mountain you see something which is probably not supposed to be:

I don't know if this is a known bug and if it's not, what should i do with it?

I have the same error. I saved the diagnostic file as well. No PSCLIENT.EXE running anymore.

It happened when was on the ojaroads (not sure which one). I was walking towards what should have been another map, but actually it felt like walking into The Void because i couldn't see anything beyond the map i was on.

Specs:
Athlon64 3400+
1 GB ram
Win XP pro SP2 + all patches
ATI Radeon 9800 pro with drivers that i updated last about a month ago.

PS was completely patched and updater was ran right before i started playing.

lilbritt mentioned installing the patch - or attempting it.

Would anyone be running PS on Windows Server 2003 or Vista?

I wonder ;)

You might try reading one of the interesting STICKIES on this forum. Those should give you an idea of what to do.

(hint: you have to download an extra patch to run the game)

You can use VMWare to make a virtual machine running DOS or FreeDos?

http://www.vmware.com/products/ws/ <-- demo that gives you 30 days to make Virtual Machines

http://www.vmware.com/products/player/ <-- free (as in beer) software that you can use to run Virtual Machines

Edit:  I upgraded my version of dosbot to version .65 from .63.  \'65 has a few tricks to increase the speed of it, and they made a big difference.  I\'m still thinking that Daggerfall plays better than Arena though -- if I did play through Arena, it would be for the plot, I\'m sad to say.

Of course, if I was able to survive the first dungeon, maybe I\'d feel differently.  >:|  At least I was killed by an archer this time instead of a rat.

Edit:  Bah.  I have daggerfall working now on XP, but not through dosbox:  Using dosbox, it says that the CD isn\'t in the drive even though it is.  Works fine outside of Dosbox though, but I just know that the classic XP bug will show up which makes quests impossible to complete (since they key monsters or items are invisible).
