There was no need to snap at bilbous, please try to be a little more friendly around the forum and remember that you are not always going to think every single post is a fantastic contribution, but everyone has different opinions (which is a good thing!) and instead of turning it into an aggressive encounter you should just ignore it or respond neutrally. I read bilbous' post as completely neutral, even helpful, and then was disappointed at the reaction you gave him.
But enough hand slapping.
Actually it would be nice to know the author's nick or name incase he has written other insightful messages around the Internet that could be searched. He sounds intelligent and learned. I would not be suprised if he had a website, and it might prove to be a good read. If you happen to find it, let us know.

When he first posted this thread he had a forum account. It seems he managed to find what he was looking for and delete it some time later. (Guests cannot post here, so you only see "Guest" when someone has deleted their account)

This comes a little late, but I was typing before Xordan arrived.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. I would like to assure everyone that I have never locked a thread without first giving an explanation. Most of my activities so far have been merging double posts, moving misplaced threads, and locking only by request (and always with an accompanying message to explain why).
With regards to the thread linked by Drey entitled "Forum Game". Please see the sticky thread "Welcome to Hydlaa Plaza! (Rules)", in which Karyuu states the following:
Any moderator could have closed this thread as part of a regular sweep.
In future it would be appreciated if one of us was contacted privately about general forum issues and we will do our best to address the problem.

You would gain skill levels by practicing that skill, as was originally intended. It would not necessarily cost more money. You simply remove the part where you can train any skill you want just by gaining PPs from, for example, mining ores.

You can get PP from any activity and spend them on any skill. That is where it lacks sense.

It is up to the devs. My only suggestion would be to join the IRC #planeshift channel and speak to a developer there. At a guess, acraig would probably be your best chance, so see if you can find him around. Good luck.

Everybody's characters will be wiped in the future. What will you do then?
I would not hold out hope for getting your character back, unless he can be found and restored from a backup. The developers are very busy people who may not have time to search through files and restoring database entries just for one player.
