Guilds Forum / I like the guild name
« on: July 09, 2007, 06:53:42 pm »
When I first saw the F.F's intensely role playing, they had a lovely celebration going on - and i had not heard about a concept of the guild, but the name speaks for itself, it says to me "live your live and be merry" ... what is wrong with role-playing 'simple' language used by 'simple' people ?

Linux Specific Issues / Planeshift with Xgl
« on: December 10, 2006, 06:00:00 pm »
I've been trying hard to get Planeshift running under Xgl but it always said "indirect rendering", that means: unplayable because of low performance
I hear that it's recommended to use AIGLX instead of Xgl but I haven't tried that yet.
However, I found one solution - the famous "nonXgl" script that temporarily sends the output to Display directly

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=176636

it would help with other OpenGL based games, too, and you would start with
nonXgl planeshift
or
nonXgl bzflag

Ok, I tried this

SndSys.Driver.ALSA.SoundBufferms = 150

and it works for me, sound is fine as it is supposed to be !

I am also SuSE 10.1 and when I installed the 015b client out of the box, the sound was working fine. However, after I run the "Updater", sound was down again, and when I enable the OSS line in the .cfg, it crashes again

I had the same problem as others before the update

Now, using OSS, I run into the bug

*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (!prev): 0x08ebd8f0 ***

( i am using the line
  SndSys.Driver = crystalspace.sndsys.software.driver.oss
  when i change it to
  SndSys.Driver = crystalspace.sndsys.software.driver.alsa
  there is no sound
)

General Discussion / Re: a different possibility
« on: April 30, 2006, 10:10:13 pm »
I agree with the opinion that sexual content is not to be condemned as harshly as American public opinion or law does.
Yes, we are already on a violent site, as there“s lots of killing going on ;-)

But still, I don't NOT want to hear descriptions of "sacred" body parts while just running down Hydlaa road !!!
I do like to hear discussions though, and I think the /say command is much better than the /tell in most cases, it gives a more lively atmosphere to gameplay !

One possibility that jumped into my mind was:
a /whisper command which would have a range of, say, 50 cm.

Then we can whisper nice things into our beloved's ear, still with the thrilling possibility that it might get caught by someone else's ear.... But only If they manage to come that close !
