Linux Specific Issues / Re: GooeyBuilder .9.1
« on: June 26, 2006, 02:40:40 pm »
well, it still didn't work.  ??? now the script was looking for /opt/art  - just in case that is already at the end of the script - is there a way i don't need to compile everything again?

hi,
i ran the .9.0 version today, but get still the same message in the log  in the section ART RESTORE  that there is no directory /opt/planeshift_cvs/art which is correct because there is a /planeshift missing in the path.

Linux Specific Issues / Re: GooeyBuilder .8.2 Released
« on: June 24, 2006, 11:04:32 pm »
hi,

my next attempt to use the gooeyBuilder ended in the following message:
Code: [Select]
cp: Aufruf von stat für „/opt/planeshift_cvs/art“ nicht möglich: No such file or directory which makes sence since there is no directory called /opt/planeshift_cvs/art but only /opt/planeshift_cvs/planeshift/art
due to a lack of knowledge i don't have a clue how to fix that myself...

I used .8.2 on dapper and chose the default install directory.

Wish list / Re: Identifying other character
« on: May 23, 2006, 12:11:34 pm »
I will try to explain myself a bit better. What i found disturbing was, that once you reach a certain level of Itelligence (50), one seems to have reached unlimited wisdom when it comes to identify others no matter what the difference of these two characters is. I find that highly unrealistic and would like to soften these hughe step a bit. What Karyuu wrote ("Currently, the higher your Intelligence is, the better you can estimate someone's strength.") isn't cosequently implemeted - there is only the one mentioned step of INT 50.

So I think what would prevent them of beeing identified would be Itelligence and Charisma. And the best way to implement that could be that a difference is calculated between the values of charisma and itelligence of the character beeing identified and the (_only_ as we discussed) intelligence of the identitifying character. Once the difference is too high - the weaker character shouldn't be able anymore to figure out the others strength.

By the way, why do you have charisma listed twice up there?  What's wrong with just multiplying times 2, if you want it to count more?...

uhm - I just wasn't sure how to do that...  :-[

"Maybe even when you reach a certain intelligence level you could have the optionr to chose whether to make yourself come over as stronger or weaker than you really are?"
In my opinion this is a great Idea.  \\o// Gives more motivation to do train INT.

Yes, you are right, my dictionary said something alse about the word charisma than i had in mind, I thought more about knowledge of human nature. But it would still help to prevent beeing identified as what someone is.
So maybe it should only matter for the person beeing identyfied and for the identifying person Intelligens could just be taken as it is.

But is not how it already works. What i mean is the chance to identify someone and there, it does not matter at all. It only matters in what you identify. But the better someone acts, the more difficult it is to determine who he actually is. And it gives more sence to train Intelligence above 50 - and that usually should matter.

Wish list / Identifying other character

I think it would make sence that the identifying border isn't just at Intelligence 50, but also the difference of a combination of Charisma and Itelligence of both players. Therefore here my suggestion. I've never programmed in C++, so I am not sure if there are mistakes in my modification:

for src/server/usermanager.cpp

Code: [Select]
                int CharsIdentify = charData->GetCharIdentify();
                int PlayersLvl    = client->GetCharacterData()->GetCharIdentify();
                int LvlDifference = PlayersIdentify - CharsIdentify;

if (( playerAttr->GetStat(PSITEMSTATS_STAT_INTELLIGENCE) < 50 ) || ( IdentifyDifference < -50 ))
      desc.AppendFmt( "\n\nYou try to evaluate the strength of %s, but you have no clue.", charName.GetData() );
else
...

and for src/server/bulkobjects/pscharacter.cpp

Code: [Select]
unsigned int psCharacter::GetCharIdentify()
{
    return ( attributes.GetStat(PSITEMSTATS_STAT_INTELLIGENCE) +
             attributes.GetStat(PSITEMSTATS_STAT_CHARISMA) +
             attributes.GetStat(PSITEMSTATS_STAT_CHARISMA) ) / 3;
}

yes, thanks a lot!

* Leritho is very grateful for the information and bows several times...    :sorcerer:

*edit - add

there is a typo: signifigantly ->significantly

*2nd edit

I've made a suggestion for the identifying thing - that it would depend also on the difference of a combination of Charisma and Itelligence of both players in this post.

Just that I am  not mistaken here:

Lets say I become a freakin good chef, are the best singer in Yliakum and have plenty of other skill which do not influence my phisical strength or ability to fight at all, I could still be seen as  'impossible to defeat'? Is it a smart move than to train any other skill if I am a guy how is proud of his duell points?

How I see it, the best way would be than to train only strength, agility, endurance, light-amor and sword and therefore be seen as a medium character, but I would probalby always win in any duell where the other has about the same 'strength'.

So, does the strength-thing makes sence than at all or is it just confusing? With the concept of my guild - I shouldn't even complain here, but I still would like to have that indicator beeing more precise.

Hi,

since the starter seems to have aked a question which is alright to ask - I would like to know which characteristics do (or which don't) influence the strength others believe I have.

Linux Specific Issues / Re: GooeyBuilder Beta Version Released!

hi,

after typing gooeybuilder in my cl - the third window i get says: Could not find buildscript compatible with your linux distro. Exiting...

hmm - I am currently running Ubuntu 6.06 alias Dapper Drake - since it was made for dapper i was wonderingn what could have went wrong

Probably you mean advisor points?  I believe when I 'tested the system' (with a willing participant of course) when the character got kicked for 10 mins, it subtracked 30 advisor points.

He was telling me he had -32.xx chellange points - I don't know if it is possible to have digits after the dot in adviser points. So i don't think he confused. But he did not tell me anything about beeing kicked.
Well, I will just ask again when he is online.

13
Someone even told me today that he got about -20 duell-points for challenge spam - is that true? And since duell points don't influence the character - why would he bother? The duell points are not even beeing made public afaik.

Tanks Alfonso and sorry for not looking by myself. It would be great if you could install that. Gives Jabber users maybe a bit more the feeling of beeing supported :)
