Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / Re: graphics and fonts screwed up

I have the same problem. None of the fonts show up only as boxes instead of characters.
I have update my DriectX and my graphics drivers to no avail.

I have a P4 2GHz with 512 MB RAM
DirectX 9.0c -> all of the included tests completed succesfully btw
128 DDI ATI Radeon 9700

Any suggestions?
