Wish list / Re: Aging
« on: July 02, 2006, 11:57:18 pm »
Well, I hope I can contribute a bit.... there was aging and death in the mud I played, but there were also greater and lesser elixirs of youthness.
Lesser were obtained by automatic quest (one random question picked from 17 or 18 to prevent people from having what the NPC wanted
just a second after getting the quest) and removed 3-4 years of age, greaters were given with quest-points (almost half the prize of a quester
task, usually involving 2 hours of adrenaline), and removed 10 years each.
You were gaining about 1 year of "human" age every month, regardless of race (dwarves had *3 multiplier to aging and removing, elves had *8 ).

Can fire be trained beyond 20?  Good luck.  Only another 'knowledable' player can help you.  It cannot be determined by brute force, determination, or in game semantics.  It is simply a 'secret' that is not shared.  Again, dissapointing.

This means you could have something more interesting to do other than wandering in search for good conversation, NPC aren't infinite, and if you're smart most of the secrets can be
discovered with no big efforts (another kind of issue is when you have a **** note that someone doesn't want to give you back.....).

I forgot the most important thing..... buy an horse, a charriot, gryphons-taxi services, magic teleport rites to travel from Hydlla to Akkaio and viceversa....
I think I've done that road by feets for at best an hundred times (at least, hum.... ten times that.... I'm an enki.)

And what do you do with all that useless money?

If I can intromit myself I can give a couple of suggestions:

Practicals :

1 ) Training main skills (after lvl 20 most of them are not so cheap)
2 ) Training secondary skills (some of these start to be expensive much before 20...)
3 ) Training stats
4 ) buying weapons
5 ) buying potions (they're not much expensive, but you'll need a lot.....)
6 ) buying glyphs you can't get yourself

more RP :

1 ) Buy beer (this is what most of NPC seems to do with the money they get from working)
2 ) Buy gifts for relationship (/s)
3 ) Impress other peoples with your wealth (go in the mine and start dancing, for example)
4 ) Donate to enkidutaristic causes/foundations  :innocent:
5 ) Organize pool party with expensive liquors/ wines   :whistling:

It would be nice if the Enki were able to jump/fall further than other races without suffering so much damage... being pussy cats and all.

Well, feline grace could means also they're good/best stalkers and have nightvision. (hum another good race for assassin/rogue chars?)
However, they should never become too much comfident with swimming  :P

You shouldn't RP that the world has change. The world was like that. ALWAYS. Rping that a river just popped in front of you is wrong. You mean that right now you are excluding Kadaikos from your RP just because it isn't "implemented"? Or you say that there is only one level to Yliakum? That is wrong.

Well, yes, but still is a bit uncertain the cause that moves all suddendly to start training a new skill
(it was there since always, but why you decided just now to start training it, even being the son of a famous
artisan of that crafting??)

For the river, well, probably some earth moving near the source moved the flow of an already existing river
from a distant and unexplored area...... So you never saw Kadaikos cause a rock drop blocked the road,
or you didn't found the way to the other levels so you don't know much about them.....

(At least the real world would be naturally subject to changes..... Isn't Yliakum supposed to be in that way?)

General Discussion / Re: Where were you last?
« on: June 28, 2006, 01:52:54 pm »
I think that since the Plane has Shifted (meanning Oja has decided to take a walk East) alot of people will wake up in mid-air

A little script to "translate" the players that were in oja could fix this..... [ player.pos=player.oldpos + ( oja.pos - oja.oldpos) ]
At least could much reduce the number of players with this issue.....

However, after trying for some minutes to enter in a stone mouth, I returned in Hydlla to get some training from Gregori when all this
started....

General Discussion / Re: Abusing the DR
« on: June 28, 2006, 01:44:26 pm »
It's just my 2 cents, but I don't think that making harder or dangerous the DR would be the perfect soultion of all issues.
For example yesterday I got the "pitch-black-pit bug" 2 times trying to descend into laanx dungeon (I often descend there
with more than 60% health) and I don't think the frustration of a dangerous DR would solve anything.

There could be some other, better solution for this issue. One may be "moving" the DR return place (actually Hydlla and Oja)
randomly , so peoples not knowing where they will re-birth, can't use DR as a "shortcut".
Another way (not much original, I know) is givin some kind of maluses after returning from DR. For any player the deads in the last 2 hours
are counted, and the maluses increase with counter until you don't stay out from DR for 2-3 consecutive hours, then the counter is reset to 0.

I would like to remember that actually there isn't a way to resurrrect players dead in a group, and this is IMHO the biggest cause for which
DR should stay as it is...... [yes, even the best player could die for a bit of lag, in certain situations, IMHO ]

blah Msrmalik sickens to the thought of using kde and qt the only wm's i use are xfce4 and fluxbox
oh and Dejoweon thank you for making me break my promise of not posting  ;)

[Please don't start the 1000th flame war about "kde is too big and too slow", expecially if you didn't tried
3.5.x (and maybe removing some of the unneeded services - anything is now GPL). My poor little KDE....  :whistling: ]

Dejoweon starts cooking a bitter soup for Msrmalik, the best cure for certain kinds of sickness, he still doesn't
wants to go hunting certain  beasts all alone! ;)

I think the issues with ATI drivers are more or less for any distro, I'm on a gentoo~32 and I switched to nvidia last year.....

However I was an Azureus user until some months ago, then I tried Ktorrent and (maybe cause my download needs are limited
to linux isos and now to the client,I have to admit) I feel happy for this switch (removing lots of java-related packages).
If somebody else is using KDE..... give it a try.
