/emote harkens back to the ol mudding days and implies a multi-action effect, such as "Bounces around the room and..." We have the /me command, but something that could be seen in the 3D space instead of the chat window would be nice.
I think in the current stage of 3d implementation, a /pose command would be more effective where the character could choose from a set number of non-animated poses. I'd suggest a limited set at first such as;
point: Character right hand points out straight, user could then rotate character to point in the direction needed.
rest: Character in sitting crosslegged pose. (developer choice on if anything occurs, such as faster gain of stamina)
gasp: hands over mouth
boast: hands in angle up
From an animation standpoint, this should be fairly easy to implement since your just taking the existing figure and reposing them and not creating an animation sequence. The client would just have to switch in the appropriate pose.
