Well, I'm a male player, have a male character, and in the last months I've gained some 30 lbs from eating all the bread I looted.  Most of it was stale and chewy.  Fortunately, all the potions of healing helped wash it down.  Lucky me there was fish now and then... :D

Want figures?  I recall having looted 1 weapon above /5, some three above /4, and I mark the day as a good one if I get even one above /3.  Bread, fish and healing potions I've got way too many to count, but even so, you put them together and they don't make a third of the times I got "XXXX has nothing to be looted".

So, might it be that
* Male players spend way more time playing
* Male players spend a higher percentage of that time fighting
* Male players brag much more about their trophies  ;D

Of course, "None of the above" and "Others" would be valid options, too.

Cheer up, there's more than looting in PS (so they say) :P

I think you may be looking for the word "mobs" :D

Indeed

I must stop drinking Gummiberry Juice

Yes, I can confirm this.  At times, mods I couln'd possibly handle without potions become easy.  At other moments, mods that ceased to be a problem months ago take half of my HP.

Well, I guess this keeps combat interesting: you can't take anything for granted  :P

Okay, I've just get hurt (remarkably) by tw rogues, so I guess
a) It was something on my client's side
b) it was due to communications/lag
c) None of the above

Whatever the case, seems solved.

Thanks

Some more information would be grand
Sorry, I believed this was a known issue.

Some time ago there was a problem with some server, and mobs didn't deliver any damage at all.  Zero.  Nil.  So newbies were shamelessly hunting Ulbernauts, and things like that.  Obviously, immersiveness, training and economy suffered from this.  Fortunately, the bug was solved and things went back to normal (see http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=24163.0 for info on that.)

So I was at the arena fighting some gladiators and rogues and suddenly found they weren't hurting me.  Not a tiny single HP.  Nothing.  While just the day [IRL] before I had to use some potion now and then to stand my ground.  And no, I hadn't got training or better armour in the meantime.  I checked other PCs around and none of them was taking a single HP of damage.  That's why I decided to post.

Who knows, maybe Talad blessed me and I suddenly became the ultimate Dermorian killing machine in Hydlaa, but somehow that didn't seem likely...

Regards

Just an impression, but you call it an educated one

Is good to see that actually someone does care about the name policy.  From several names I've been seeing IG I got the impression that the policy was unenforced at best, or even discontinued. \\o//

Let's hope it's nothing more complicated than a +/- typo  :D

Is this just me?  I have the feeling that, when casting Rock Armor, I actually take more damage than when going “bare”.  After I got this impression first, I tried to fight an Arena Trepor several times, with and without Rock Armor.  I consistently ended the combat with less HP when I did use the Rock Armor.

So, is this a bug or a feature?  I mean, is it that I need a higher skill in Brown Way (or Light Armor) for the spell to be effective?  Is it that somehow, despite the spell description, I move more slowly and killing the Trepor takes longer (and therefore we take more damage)? Is it something else? Or just my imagination?

Has anyone else experienced this?  I haven’t found any reference in the forums or bugtracker.

Thanks

Sorry, hadn't seen the edited version.

Thanks for your prompt reply

I regret to report that this problem is still present, despite a general server restart a couple minutes ago.

Wandering Djinn

My source (who insists on remaining anonymous) claims that “The Stanley Kubrickians" is an unregistered guild used as a cover-up by “The Reformed Arthur C. Clarckians” since they were denounced as heretics by the orthodox arthurcclarkians authorities.  :D

Well, you’re right, after reporting the bug we have wandered off the path.  I plead guilty.
Then again, instead of whining and moaning about a bug, we’ve used the thread to apply creative writing (I loved Steuben's praise Talad, praise Laanx post), role-play a bit and in general have nice, for-all-audiences fun.
So, comparing us with some posters out there in other threads, do you think the devs will get mad at us?

PS – Thanks for the scientifical compliment, but I’ll swear by the ley-lines thing :sorcerer:

Yes, when I first saw it I felt it had to be a bug.  However, it was so... neat? How it so-perfectly hovered over the hill that I figured it would rather be a feature.  Maybe we should start a “Bug or feature?” thread to gather all these funny things.

As to an explanation of the phenomenon, my two pennies:

1)   Conjunction of ley-line crossroads and areas of intense Crystal radiation cause diverse magical effects.  This could well be one occurrence of such an event.

2)   This shows that either the hill or the stone contain deposits of a magnetic ore.  If it’s in the hill, we could dig it and use it to make shields that would repel iron weapons :-)

However, a member of an obscure sect (who begs to remain anonymous) claims that the stone has been sent from “above” (sic) to "speed up the development of the races".  He furthermore claims that, if we looked closely at the proportions of the “monolith” (so he called the stone) we could start to delve into the mysteries of Yliakum...
Whatever...

It appears the bug is still up.
I’ve been trying to fight everything, to see where was my limit, and nothing.  Last thing, I killed an Ulbernaut without even trying much, and not a single hit point.
So it’s clear to me that I shouldn’t fight anything more ‘till the problem is solved.
Unfortunately, I see LOTS of people around munchkin-eing, killing and looting Ulbernauts by the dozen.  Result: there’s gonna be a wipe, and it’s gonna take all of us.
