Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / updater

hi i just installed the game.

I ran the updater, it made some progress then simply closed with no confirmation message or anything. I ran the game but got the message " You are not running the correct version of planeshift for this server "

i went back and ran the updater, but it just did the same thing?
