Some ISP's actually block the ports used by bit torrent.. seems like a mean thing to do to linux people like me.. but when I call, they give me a long speil about software piracy and how common it is for people to use bittorrent to install illegal software..

You might call your ISP and see if those ports used by bittorrent are open.

  ..So it seems my ISP has decided that if you are using BitTorrent- you are engaging in illegal activities. I dont buy it, but theres nothing i can do-- (and there is no other ISP in my area).  Sorry about the bandwidth drain.
