Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / "Ornated Battle Axe"
« on: October 07, 2006, 06:40:39 am »
I looted an Ornated Battle Axe which has no picture in my inventory and the picture in veiw item/examine window is a pair of gloves.... Oh wait!  It is a broad sword picture in examine now!  [update: examined appearance changes to the item which was last examined.]  I am going to sell this 'rare' item ASAP if you do not wish to see it  :)))=

[update: No NO NOO!  this is a R A R E item!  I am going to sell it for gazellions!  *shrugs* Maybe someday I will find a real bug.  *sigh*

I, Yungn Stoutrour, asked Remant Tovere in Hydlaa to train me to become stronger and that's the last I remember!  [The game has booted me twice now for trying to get strength training from Remant Tovere.]

I am running windows XP professional with an AMD 3200+, GEForce 6800 GT videocard.  What else would you like to know?

Is 50 a reasonable amount of pokes to expect success or should I go for 100 or just keep going until my mouse quits & looks for a less abusive job?

Linux Specific Issues / Re: GFX issues

I installed the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8774-pkg2.run driver but still getting
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.4.1)
and there was somehting about a 'nvidia-glx-kpm-(linux distro)' file that do not see on the nvidia website anymore.  The website has changed so it looks like I have to review & implement.  ;)

Bet you thought there was no homework after you graduated from school... HA!

I was shown where the sewers are, attacked a sewer rat (it might have been dead already) & I got booted from PS.  There was an error message that said a file had been created with... black box info.  I hunted down the file & tried to post it here.

6
I could send it in an email but that would require a ADRS...

7
Ok, so how do I dump this dump onto this post so you can take a peek?

Linux 2.6.16.21-0.13-default x86_64
SUSE LINUX 10.1 (X86-64)

NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8762-pkg2.run
NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8774-pkg2.run
I had DL the first one, now I have both & will try sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8774-pkg2.run with the init 3 boot option...
tomorrow, after I get some & check here for further details  ;)
(modification) "to add the NVIDIA ftp server as additional installation source.
Now use

YaST -> Software -> Install and Delete Software"  --  there is no such thing as "Install and Delete Software" in my YAST... that I see *praying I am not going blind; women will do that to you!*

TY for the sage advice at the right price
G'night

"Go to http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_1.0-8774.html, read  SuSE NVIDIA Installer HOWTO, then download and install drivers provided there (new version was released yesterday)."

I did download, extracted the file to it's own folder & read but don't understand how to install.  I wandered around in YAST then tried logging in as root & using the Shell Command to "nvidia-installer: but was told I am running an X server, that I need to reboot using "init 3".  I did that, found I needed to know where the extracted folder was.  :)  I took note & went back in using init 3 & tried to use "nvidia -installer" to no avail.  Maybe I should have used "sh ./nvidia-installer" while I was there.

I am learning a lot from Linux but not used to having ask for help to interpret tech manuals with each step.   o.O

Linux Specific Issues / GFX issues
« on: August 25, 2006, 08:11:05 am »
First & foremost; I am new to Linux, beena  fan for a long time but operating the system is harder than fanning it.

1) I have a diagonal cutting across my PS screen from top right to bottom left & I get mouse trails filling up in the diagonal.
2) I think I am also getting that common error about indirect rendering with GL but i can't read the error because of other GFX issues.
3) My mouse & keyboard respond very slowly in the PS window.
(modification) 4) PS game screen, upper left has a small window with useful commands (trade, challenge, stop atk, etc.) but on my screen there is also a set of... dark, rectangular active areas starting from  the middle of the left side & going up along the top of the screen.  They hav the same diagonal cutting through them and they are labelled (when I manage to get my mouse on top of them) identically to the useful commands.
