I had this same exact problem when I switched platforms but it was so laggy that I couldn't get a shot.  I had logged in just inside the BD area but I don't think that was the cause of the problem because when I suicided it was the same in the death realm.  I also noticed the texture abcence at the spot where you pick the character to login with. I tried again... and I noticed an alert at the top of the very first load screen when the game starts up. The alert said "Hardware acceleration not found".
