Newbie Help (Start Here) / Crafting

Hi all

after a few hours in this cool game i get a quest like "make 2 steel stock"...

Now i guessed that i must find some iron and coal for making steel, i mined iron and coal, then i put everthing in forge but i always fail :(

I need some better skill?

And more important...lvl up a skill need a lot of time or i'm making some error?

Plz help a Newb ^^ \\o//
