I'm going to have to spring at this opportunity and ask something I've wanted to know for a really long time (and I feel kinda stupid because I've been playing for quite a while but still don't know a lot of things like this); how do you do that, anyway?

Kind, aren't we?

My main point here is that in-game changes would make it very convenient, so you could turn stuff off and then turn it back on once you got to a less graphics-intensive area.

It'd be really nice if there was some way to tone down the graphical quality and, for instance, make the lighting less complicated or, I dunno, change the texture complexity... Because for me, the game used to run pretty fast, but now sometimes it's just... really, really, slow. Just at unexpected times, too; not all the time, I mean... Anyway, my best bet is that it's related to graphics, and the coolest thing ever would be if you could just, say, remove all textures and lighting temporarily (leaving the game looking completely nasty but at least you could know where you were going?) just so you can get through the area you're having problems with, because while that sounds really stupid, it's like... otherwise, you're totally stuck. So, um... yeah.

OK, so I shouldn't feel bad if I've been playing for quite a while but, practically speaking, I'm getting nowhere?

"And those who wish to escape death must pass through the most horrific of all challenges: The bridge of The Grim Laggingness"
--Ancient Ylian proverb

Yeah, so there's this bridge in the Death Realm, and it has always gone slow for me, but this time it's completely unbearable and just short of froze the game altogether... As a temporary fix, it'd be nice if someone relocated my character (Htarak Slinrhenta) to Ojaveda, since it was bugginess that forced me to die in the first place... But for in the future, does anyone have any suggestions to make this problem less, ah, problematic?

Yeah, the sad part is how I'm hardly new at all; I thought I was doing pretty well, you know, and I had a character with full leather armor and two falchions and stuff, so I thought that was at least decent, but the problem was that, even though I played quite a bit, I never made much progress; I didn't make too much money and I never gained a level in any skill.
So I've decided to start a new character from the beginning, and I'd like to know if anyone has suggestions for how to, um, progress faster? I guess that's kinda vague, but yeah...

I didn't realize that rats were impervious to attack. When did this happen?  ::)

No, seriously, what's up with that? I just made this new character, and I was unarmed, and... it wouldn't let me attack rats?

Okay, my character's name is Srenkarth Tralwyn; the game doesn't give any error message, it just refuses to load and stops responding, and eventually the screen becomes entirely black (before you even ask, I have tried waiting already for a long time with no results).
As for the rest that might take more time to gather...
Here's what I do know- I'm running on Windows XP... And that's pretty much all I know. My computer is practically built from scratch (although it depends on your definition of "scratch") but I don't know what all went into it since I did pretty much none of the construction.
PlaneShift ordinarily works fine on my computer, it runs fairly quickly and the only other bug I had before was the one caused by the psclient process not ending. I haven't had the problem since because I just open task manager and double-check every time I exit the game.

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / Area Not Loading
« on: January 05, 2007, 02:54:04 am »
So it's like this... I left the main town thing where I started and just went around exploring. Then I decided to turn back... I got lost and just kept exploring, hoping I'd eventually find someone to help me. But then the game went to the loading screen like it does when loading a new area; but it stopped loading and crashed. It continues to do so every time I log in.
In other words, I'm totally stuck and I have no idea where I am...

Help!

Wish list / Re: Date and time in PS

Reguardless of how it was handled, an in-game calander would be extremely useful. You could plan specific events at a certain time or date. Like a certain person who only shows up during a specific time of the month or something.
You could also celebrate your birthday, since you would then know when it was.   O--)

The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: Ultimate conclusion Pirate vs Ninja
« on: November 10, 2006, 09:34:39 pm »
That requires pirates>ninja. Which simply isn't true. Ninja are awesome, deadly, have had years of training in the use of many weapons and tools, as well as skill in several unique forms of communication; secret codes and the like. Pirates are... drunk idiots that know nothing about anything.
I should explain now why pirates were always drunk. See, the only beverage that didn't spoil on ships was alchoholic stuff, which was, naturally, already spoiled.
Ninja were probably never drunk, as their jobs required constant mental focus.

My band director is an expert at making obscure and random anologies, but unfortunately most of them refer to musical situations.

So for all of you is thanksgiving celebrated as a religious holiday at your house? Or at least a time to reflect on all of the good things you have? Or is it just the day when you stuff your faces, watch football, and don't go to school/work?
