Mac OSX Specific Issues / Re: Planeshift now Universal Binary

Simonpe,

Nice job but just one wee problem, Demonoid is a members only site so the link will ultimately only be useful to other members of Demonoid. I would suggest posting it up at http://thepiratebay.org/ . The Pirate Bay is fully open to the public. I have had .018 up there since it came out and have so far uploaded over 7 gigs worth  ;D
Nice to be back by the way, have been working hard abroad for a while so have been away from game, but will soon be back into full swing!

Meren, In joining a guild, you should choose carefully, a family with ways and beliefs which match with those of your character. It seems to me, at least from reading your post, that your character has far more to offer the Planeshift community than it is currently allowed by it's guild. You should seriously seek another family which encourages your character to grow to its fullest potential, not restricts it with overbearing attitudes in conflict to your own.
Also, although not strictly enforced at the moment, fighting in Hydlaa Plaza is illegal. Although allowed, the open carrying of weapons in such areas, I am sure, is discouraged by the powers that be. It is just my opinion, but for a guild rule to demand its members go against these wishes isn't the best RP in this, or any other world.

Sorry if I have gone a little off topic  :P

Mac OSX Specific Issues / Re: Saying : not running correct version of ps

Did you completely remove the first installation? If not, remove it all to the Trash and empty the trash. Open the .dmg and copy everything to a folder in your Applications folder (or wherever). Then run the Java updater. Then run the program. DO NOT run the updater that comes with the package. My client is still saying there are new updates available, just ignore this and go into the game (hopefully!).
Appologies if this is all obvious too you, but this is usually the first step. Also, your mac isn't one of the new intel based ones is it?

Have you used the Java updater? If not go to the sticky topic at the top of the Mac section and look for the link to either Updater.jar (29 k) or Updater-old.jar (29 k). Read the instructions carefully. Anyone installing Planeshift for the first time should really read this sticky first anyway.  ;)

Simagel looks down at his feet only to see Bolad poised almost as if in....worship? No it can't be thinks Simagel, it must still be the cramps. Still, he thinks, it is good to see him back in Hydlaa, even if he does keep muttering something about DR never being the same with full lighting. Strange Dwarf.

Bolad, slumped to his knees and hunched over like a broken Enki doll, lifts his head from his rough dwarven hands and looks, tears still welling in his eyes, into the reassuring smile on Janners face. he sees a glimmer of hope, maybe life isn't all that bad after all. Feeling much more the brave dwarf he was before the portal closed on him, he rises from his knees and stands, back straight, as tall as any dwarf can possibly stand. Suddenly, after all that kneeling, he feels the excruciating sensation of cramp surge through the calf of his left leg. Howling with the pain he hops off into the darkness of a passageway leading from the gate where the portal should be standing. Janner just grins and settles back down to wait for the portal to reopen.

Wow people, the instructions were pretty clear, DO NOT RUN THE UPDATERS! any of them, it breaks it :'(
I have not given a full test yet, but so far I have noticed that the world scrolls a lot smoother but the mouse does not, in fact it's a little worse.
Also the names above the characters just appear and dissapear, but that could be a general problem. I really must check.
Other than that it seems to be ok for the moment.

G4,
OS 10.4.8
1GB ram
Dual 1.3 Ghz processor
2MB L3 Cache per processor
ATI Radeon 9000 Pro, AGP, 128MB VRAM

Extra: All my problems were my own fault. I forgot to check the settings in-game. Done now and working  \\o//

Hmmm, I think patience is the word here. Like most of you, it is killing me waiting for an official release (I am checking the sticky five times a day now  :o ), but there are obviously issues with the mac client and dfryer wants it to be as perfect as possible before releasing. I congratulate those whom are able to compile their own version, I wouldn't know where to begin, but surely these versions will contain the very bugs dfryer is trying to stomp out. If too many buggy versions are in the public realm, it will not only spoil gameplay for those users, but for everyone who interacts with them in game.

Please be patient.

A very, very big thanks to dfryer for all the hard work (and do you think you could get a bl**dy move on  :innocent: )
