I got it to work, i just had to get rid of the steps, remove version.dat and run updater again.

Never Mind! When I finished creating my character, it loads and says: Some of the widgets could not be loaded. Check your logs.

Thanks for trying, but that didn't do anything.  The icon bounces for a second, and the application unexpectedly quit. :'(

Okay. I deleted the entire game, and im not going to try to get it working again.

I downloaded planeshift for mac, and before I used the updater it would start up fine.  But, it said I did not have the correct version, so I ran the updater and got it updated as much as I could.  Then, I tried to launch through the updater.  That didn't work.  I tried to launch it normally.  That didn't work.  I tried to launch it through pssetup.  That didn't work.  Please Help Me! :'(

PS
I am running Mac OS X tiger.  Would that make a difference?
