The Mages Order

A messenger with a bag hanging from his shoulder approaches the University of the Arcane from the south and enters the complex through two golden gates, making his way towards the huge tower reaching high above the structure beneath. As he walks on the stone floor strictly northwards he is sided by several great statues showing Laanx and Talad. After a while he enters the courtyard, surrounded by the three wings of the university. The west wing on his left side has a large golden cupola on its top.

A fountain with a pond is situated in the center. The messenger continues walking towards the tower rising from the main wing, awed by the huge diversity of plants located in four greens surrounding the fountain, forming a square. As he enters the main hall, illuminated by giant candelabra hanging from the ceiling,  through an arched doorway, a servant approaches him.

“The Archmage has been awaiting you, follow me.”

The messenger nods and follows the servant. They walk up a set of spiral stairs on the north side to another storey of the main wing and enter a large room stuffed with filled bookcases. Strange blue spheres hover in the middle of the room and irradiate their light throughout the whole room.

“That here is our library, we have nearly every single book out there. If you walk westwards you will reach the Council wing with the Council Chamber, covered by the golden cupola you surely have noticed before. Eastwards is the laboratory and the sleeping quarters. The entrance to the Archmage's tower is at the opposite side.”

The servant points at the spheres

“No fire in here, too dangerous. These magical spheres spend more then enough light. We shouldn't keep the Archmage waiting so long, lets continue.”

They walk to a small round room with an arched doorway, leading to a set of stairs. A sparkling light is seen in one corner.
The messenger hurries towards the doorway, ready to climb the stairs.
The servant grins and grabs the messenger by the arm.

“You are not going to use the stairs, are you? *pointing at the sparkling light* Do you see the light over there? A teleporter. Thats what we use to get up there, it brings you directly into the reception hall”.

Hesistantly, the messenger steps into the light and disappears, immediately afterwards the servant follows.

They find themselves in a big room, splitting the tower in two halves, with a large glass window granting a spectacular view upon the courtyard. A set of beautiful ornate wall hangings cover the seperating wall. A strangely silverish wooden door is located exactly in the middle of that wall. A table set with alchemical instruments stands on its left. A few people dressed in expensive robes stand in the room, chatting. The servant leads the messenger towards an old female Diaboli dressed in a dark red robe.

The Diaboli nods towards the servant and gestures him to leave. Then she bows to the messenger.

“Greetings mylord, I am Zaliya Jorun, Archmage of the Mages Order. I guess you must have taken great obstacles to carry your freight here. Come with me, to my private quarters, we can talk there.”

They walk through the silverish door and up a spiral stair. They come to a room with a round table in the middle, several chairs being placed around it.

The Diaboli gestures the messenger to take place and the messenger does the very thing. The Diaboli takes place at the opposite chair to the messenger's one.

“You have done a great service for us, and you will be rewarded. But first, give me the glyph.”
The messenger reaches inside of his bag and takes a glyph out, handing it to the Diaboli. A strange symbol is engraved in it.
“Thank you, I have an offer for you. You took great risks in bringing the glyph here, that is why I and the Council of Mages agreed upon offering you a place in our Order. Normally only the most gifted mages are granted the permission to study here. Our guilds purpose is study, not war, even though we can name some of the best Battle Mages our own. We frown upon using weapons, as physical strength is a sign of a lack of mental one. We have one of the largest libraries in Yliakum and a great alchemical laboratory. Our guild is governed by me, the Archmage, and my Council of Mages. We do not care about your alignment or your prefered ways, every path leads to an aim. Join us, and become one of the greatest mages in Yliakum.”
