General Discussion / Re: Wipe
« on: February 08, 2008, 07:47:20 pm »
It has to be done some day this wipe, I would prefer if it would be done the time planeshift shifts to 0.4. But I am sure wipe or not wipe, i still will be a player does not matter at all. Since everybody knows the time will come.

There is nothing more or less to say about it.

greets

Hi there,

I run a 64bit gentoo. I tried the actual CVS version which should run on laanx.

CS(26286)
Cal3D 0.11 (407)
CEL(2591)
PS(2007-02-20 00:00:00 UTC)

I tried different settings on resolution, antialiasing, and font size. Could only run the client with CVS initial settings.

As soon as I left a sector, the game crashed. I assume it has something to do with the arch, since people running 32 bit reported to me, they are able to use the cvs version on laanx.

Version has been compiled as written on the official compile howto, I noticed there are some problems while copying the data from a binary version, since the version was not playable. Anyway, logged in in the #planeshift-build, and did get much responce from users there in the channel. Finally compiled a new version, copied the data as following

/data/options
/data/gui
/data/effects/spells
/art

optionally:
/data/zoneinfo.xml
/data/server.xml

After that, i had a running version of psclient. I could log in on laanx and play. But as soon as i left a sector the game crashed. I reported a bug to the list, with a responce.
http://www.hydlaa.com/bugtracker/bug.php?op=show&bugid=2464&pos=21
Finally i noticed no one is able to help me, since i am the only one running a 64 bit OS, having this problem. Was told I should post it here in Forums

We tested  the ./walktest and ./celtst. And it worked. I wonder since the binary version is working, why not the CVS version then.
I hope here is someone which compiled succesfully the CVS version on a 64 Bit OS, and is able to run it.

Loux, the compile went fine on my 64-bit box, except i had to set 2 symbolic links, since they were unresolved
Code: [Select]
cd /opt/planeshift/crystalspace
ln -s lib64/ lib

cd /opt/planeshift/cel
ln -s lib64/ lib

psclient.sh runs fine. The main problem i got now is i can't log in, since i had to run the updater which is unavailable now!
-----
a couple of minutes later:
since the updater is not available, i had to copy certain files from the bin version to get it to run

/data/options
/data/gui
/data/effects/spells
/art

optionally:
/data/zoneinfo.xml
/data/server.xml

since then it runs fine. I had a issue with starting some characters, i could login with one char, and with another could not log in. I was said, i know it sounds silly, anyway i was said "resize the fonts", and it worked.

 ;)

General Discussion / Re: Top 10 List of Small Bugs
« on: February 01, 2007, 11:44:02 am »
Hi,

I am quite new to this forum, but since i saw this thread, i could not resist.

OK, there is this serious issue with cloning various items within a sack, I won't post the URL , it is a well known bug though. If you do not know which i have in mind please send me a PM, just do not want noobs trying it out. If I should be honest with you, this should be fixed immidiately.

This would be what i propose for a small bug.

(sorry for bad grammar, i am not a native speaker)
