General Discussion / Re: What PlaneShift is not

Planeshift is not privately funded.

Because Talad's mother stopped giving him an allowance after Molecular Blue.

What EL does know IC has not been revealed. There has been evidence beyond this :whistling:

Sihien Sigir ---- Ulber Tamer  Elemental Light

Those known to be involved will be dealt with at a time of our choosing. This is regarded as an IC admission of guilt.

No.

Ooooh! I have an idea!

We make a curse that causes the weapon to EAT anyone but the owner! Or we coul always go with weapons that turn into Ulbers and chase you about for a bit.

I agree with Xillix and several others that you should forget it, and stop arguing about the laws, and who broke them, and why they don't work, and who killed who, and why everyone hates the bad guys, and BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH. Honestly, I don't give a sh-HOO-t about it anymore, all I want is for us to SHUSH, LEARN, and TRY AGAIN. (Later, that is, because I'm not up for this again  X-/) I have seen countless other events go the way of this one, and the only thing that has changed afterwards is the fact that less and less people are RPing, and more and more are playing the game to level up and then uninstall. And WHY do you think this is? It's because every time someone messes up an event they get the BAN card, or the N00B card, or a topic on these forums specifically dedicated to FLAMING them. Well I have to say I'm tired of it, and I'm also losing my direction with this post, and I'm beginning to forget where I was going in the first place....

So please just hush and go roleplay, and yell at me in PMs.  >:(

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition. Also, I did get a move, with no luck, and I have also created an alt, with no success...help :)

Aight,so I've just downloaded SteelBlue, I heard it wasnt as hard on the computer; which is why I stopped playing in the first place.
Anyway, I've got the game (yay!) but I've also got a problem (no so yay...).

When I start the game it loads up fine, so I am able to log into the server and select my char. BUT when I am loading the game, I get about, oh say.... a fifth of the way loaded, and then I get an error message:

Somthing unxpected happened in Planeshif: Steel Blue
Details: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 6900E263

Now, I have tried multiple things, I've reinstalled and updated, and reinstalled and NOT updated. Redownloaded and done both of the former, I've even gone into setup and turned off vertex buffing and multisampling as well as loading models. To add to it, I can't seem to get any updated graphics card drivers for my ATI Radeon IPG-320M.

Please help me! If you need system specs, I'll be happy to give them!

General Discussion / Re: terrible english
« on: December 21, 2007, 04:59:21 am »
I myself am a native English speaker, but I have many friends who are not. For instance, my guild leader, when he was first recruited (by mel O.o :D ) was, frankly, lost in terms of English, but over the past two years I have known him, he has gone from being constantly corrected by me (I'm a language "Nazi" when it comes to guild mates) to constantly correcting me! Several of my other friends have gone from incomprehensible speakers to expert orators. :D

Believe it or not, racism in PS isn't such a bad thing, as long as one keeps it to a character and IC level, because despite the fact that we are playing as an original system of characters, its not like we can change how they interact socially, if you understand what I mean. Because in real life, humans express racism as a means of social interaction between their race and another, and while PS is not all humans, the characters interact on a very human level, and that's probably unavoidable due to the fact that humans control them. Overall, what I'm trying to say is that as of now racism is present in Planeshift's society, and in support of a complex social structure in the game, I suggest it stay that way.

General Discussion / Re: Age distribution of PS players
« on: December 18, 2007, 01:05:44 am »
I'm 14, and been playing the game since I was 12. My guild is made up of 14-25 year olds, and I know quite a few players who are around my age. I agree with the idea that there should be mature content, and not "mature" content on PS, because not only does it make a game more interesting, but I do love that kind of thing! :D

Newbie Help (Start Here) / Re: Is this game Expansive like WoW?
« on: December 13, 2007, 09:01:53 pm »
Planeshift and WoW.....are not very similar at all. WoW is based on game mechanics: Dueling, LvLing, Pking....Pking....and so on and so forth. PS however, doesnt really focus on the concept of levelling to level or levelling to PK. While many players end up maxing out most stats on their characters, they really only do it for one of three reasons.

1. They should be playing WoW and don't know it ;)

2. They want to be able to kill an Ulber (A good reason believe it or not :D)

3. They feel they need to in order to compete with stronger characters both in game mechanics and Roleplay situations.

Planeshift is a tightly knit community, and we're very proud to say that we have come this far on the hard work and cooperation of not only our Developers but the players as well! WoW is not very tightly knit, as far as I can see, and last I checked, the developers and/or origional creator don't make a habit of checking in on their forums to see how things are going. Anyways, I really just want you to know that Planeshift is NOT WoW and I dearly hope it never WILL be. But if it's this good compared to WoW, especially while its still in development, I would say that you'll enjoy it very much.

And plus, its FREE!

General Discussion / Re: Nervous about roleplaying?
« on: December 13, 2007, 08:38:49 pm »
I can see why you're nervous, most of us started out RPing as nervous wrecks as well! But the fact is, you can't just sit by and watch, you've got to GET IN THERE! You have to converse with characters, get involved in Gm events, and sometimes you'll be yelled at and called a n00b, or a GodModder, but BAH! What are the other players going to do? Smack you via chat bubble? I think not. If you don't throw your character into the world, you're not going to be able to mold them. Get involved, be an ass, be a wuss, be whatever! It's YOUR character, and only yours! Like Phineas said, you have to decide whether or not you're an RPer, or sit on the fence until the game bores you to death.
