This is a graphical game, mobs should not look similar if they are not.  If  you want everyone to right click and read a description just impliment a /consider command like many old dikuMUDs have.

You have an Intel mac, why don't you dual boot or erase the Mac OS completely and turn it into Wintel box. It's entirely the same thing as if you would have gotten a High end Dell or HP, just with the added Apple Kernal allowing you boot the Mac OS. Windows and all assiciate programes will ignore it.

Yeah and then you have to pay for a Windows XP license.  Better do what I did and install Fedora 7 dusl boot.

Good day to all of you!

As I am finding myself with a small amount of time for the next two months and am considering throwing some of it at PlaneShift, and since I am running PlaneShift on a MacBook Pro Dual Intel Core laptop I am interested in any problems that Intel based Mac users are still having getting the game to run on their machines.

Please post here with any problems that you are still experiencing and your system specifications (or better yet let me know that your system specs are listed in the system specs link at the top of this forum).

You have to be quite specific because I have a 1st Gen Macbook Pro with  Intel Core Duo (not Core 2 Duo) and Mobility Radeon 1600.  The current planeshift binary hangs after I load into the game and attempt to move, then I have to powercycle the system.

I have an iMac G5 (ati 9600) running 10.4.10 and i some how cant seem to launch the 'psclient_static' is there a work around?

You can try the instructions at the beginning of the thread.  You will need to have the build environment installed.  At the minimum Xcode, fink and the sundry libs and apps that the build instructions suggest.  It did not work for me but I suspect that is because I am running 10.3.9

The fix doesn't seem to be working for me... It keeps saying "install_name_tool: command not found".
You need to have the build environment installed see the Mac Build Instructions.  At the very least you will need Xcode for the install_name_tool

I complied the code myself on this system and got a version that pretty much displayed the same symptoms.  I used the most recent version of Cal3D.

You have to wait for a new binary to be uploaded that will work on your mac till then you have you follow the directions in this thread or just wait.

Tried the directions on my 10.3.9 G5 imac - no dice.  I think we need to wait for a new binary.

Dies horribly on my 1st generation MacBook Pro.

Allows you to login, but all the backgrounds are basically black, the crashes - sometimes simply locks up the system.

Aw wow this totally sucks for me  :'(

I just found out about this game yesterday, registered, downloaded it, and couldn't get on. And so I gotta wait for the new build now? And on top of it all I have to wait and extra few days for the mac version because I run a mac? Damn  :-[  What a buzzkill.

do what I did and spent the down time getting setup to compile the client on my MacBook - now I'm ready to go when the ball drops, I can just check out the latest source and I'm a quick "jam -aq -j2 client" from playing.

OK, mea culpa,  :sweatdrop:  I think I can recind my complaint about npc changes.  I had one piece of armor at 0/50 - my shoes - apparently this is enough to get my butt kicked by everyone except sewer rats.  I can ony believe this is a bug.

I still think my suggestion about progressive level atainment has merit however.

No, my weapons while not at full 50/50 were at around 30 and 34.  Two days ago I was able to kill these npcs with little difficulty and weapons in considerably worse condition.  I am not the only one who has noticed an increase in npcs difficulty.

Well I was making progress finally in this game, had some weapons and some money and found some npcs I could kill fairly easily.  Now all change, even the rogue in the sunken room in the sewer would kill me 3 times over if I didn't run, hide and heal.  You can of course do whatever you want with the game balance - it's your game, however I think these changes have made it absurdly hard for new characters to progress.  I would suggest a simple proportional system for gaining skill levels at the moment it seems to take 14 pps to gain one level in stats str,agl etc.  and this amount seems to be constant - how about a simple ratio: level/14 pps per level gain.  This would make it easier for newbies to progress, seem only fair as you are bent on makeing pps harder to come by.
