Mac OSX Specific Issues / Re: Immediate crashing

Maybe try, in pssetup, to toggle off the vertex buffer option?

I thought it was an interesting idea, so here is my contribution :

http://pagesperso-orange.fr/kougaro/PS/stringtable.xml

that's the (not perfect) translation of the stringtable.xml file, like it already exists for deutch and cesky.

Every single npcs should know who is, and maybe have an opinion on : the Octarch of the Dome, the Vigesimi(s) (at least the one of their region),

Every npcs in  Akkaio should know "about the plague", "about the steel bazaar", and "about the accident" that possibly occured in it.

not 10 questions, but just that one is strange enough : Bhurral Varsheen, guard of Akkaio's door, is a trainer. However if you ask her what does she train, she tells you she is not a trainer  ::|

General Discussion / Re: Roleplaying Focus

Voted no, because i think it's not because of  RP that PS does not have a huge player base :

_ the game is still in alpha/beta/whatever, and while it's a very appealing game because of the RP plus all that's specific to PS (i love the music, the quests, and many more), it still lacks features, objects, more maps, and still have too many bugs, to draw a lot of players.

_ Not just because of the RP, but the way PS is (real interaction with npcs (not just to be clicked and i get a quest of bringing him back 100 rat skins), quests that are really well-thought and interesting (most of the time  :D), the great people and RP, and more that i forgot for now), it is not a game that it's simple to get into. Thus the small player base.

I think Xillix's comment about PS being a niche game is right : while PS could draw more people's attention in the future, with more features and less bugs, i don't think it will ever get a very large player base, at least not in the near future. Lots of MMO players are just stupid teenagers whose (thanks Prolix ;) ) preferred comment is "60k dmg, pawned you, lawl". I hope i never see such people here.

Linux Specific Issues / Graphical bug
« on: April 02, 2008, 09:05:58 pm »
So i got a graphical bug. Here is a screenshot : (it is a view of Shiu Hri, in the winch, but it is like that everywhere; let me state the obvious : it looks like i got no texture !)

It's like that since i upgraded my ubuntu to hardy. My Xorg was crashig after the upgrade, so i reinstalled the NVIDIA driver, plus a few more maneuvers that fixed the mess. I got that since then. MY comp (it's one of those dell 530n) :

Core 2 duo E6750
NVIDIA 8300 GS with 169.12
Ubuntu Hardy Heron

Other games such as ETQW, Tremulous and OpenArena are working perfectlly well (at least as well as they used to).
I tried different things to fix it :
- Messed up in many various ways my r3dconfig file, mainly as it is proposed here in the topics and stickies, plus the way it's proposed on Induane's website, and also a few more ways of mine, to no avail.
- The same with the gldrivers.xml file, no result either.

I think it *might* have something to do with the 169.12 . If i remember correctly, i once had tried to update to it, got the same bug, went back to the 100.xx, whatever the exact number is, and the problem was corrected.

Here is what i get in the console when i launch PS with --verbose :

Hope someone can help me  :)

General Discussion / Re: Now Recruiting

On the recruitment page, it is written that you need a portfolio to apply to the art team, could we have more informations about that? Do we need to send one or two images / models? a dozen? more?
I have been willing to apply for a bit of time, but what's written on that page scare me a bit  :)

Edit : Thanks fpr the quick answer Caarrie

May be off-topic, but i think that the actual number of quests available to players is somewhat near 150.

That also means that it would not take more than a few kbs to store the whole list of quests names...

General Discussion / Re: Winch Thoughts
« on: November 13, 2007, 07:03:07 pm »
Well, please excuse me if that has been adresseed before (i didn't find anything through a search), but what is the size of the winch? i mean, the part that goes up and down. Because i find it an important element, when it comes to understand the economy between the levels, and its interest for merchants and other people.

EDIT : thanks Mordraugion for the answer, however due to my poor english, it seems you didn't get what i asked.
I imagine the winch like some kind of elevator, and i was wondering the surface of the platform.  :)

General Discussion / Re: Dajojis "Icarus"-event
« on: October 26, 2007, 10:01:06 am »
Well, i was there too, and i totally agree, it was a very fun event

One thing i particularly like was the fact that the object used in the event were not showed in the inventory, but were totally roleplayed. (i.e : "NPC gives Player A a potion of enkiness", but player A does not get some kind of new potion in his inventory, however if player A RP to drink the potion : "Player A looks suspiciously at the potion, then drinks it", at that moment, something will happen)
That's how it happened in this event, and i liked it  :)

General Discussion / Re: The Great inconsistency hunt is on!

When you heat a blade, or some steel stock in a forge, it go through those stage : normal object --> heated --> Superheated --> Red Hot.
And when you read the description of an heated object (or is it superheated?), it is written that the object is yellow hot.
Maybe it works differently in Yliakum, but on earth, when you heat an object, it becomes red hot before yellow hot, a yellow hot object is hotter than a red hot object.  :)

Fan Art / Re: Crafting Parts Icons
« on: September 04, 2007, 10:20:02 pm »
Well, those icons are really good, i love them

I just find the Longsword not "brittle" enough, looks to neat, i think.

If i could give any idea, how about a simple alpha beta or delta greek letter to differentiate the respective blades?

Oh, and those with notch are better  :)

I'm not sure it fits here, so please excuse me if that shouldn't be here, but it sure looks like an inconsistency  :)

A steel stock weights 4 pounds, but once you heat it, it only weights 1 pounds.
