General Discussion / Re: Money exploit: Confession Window
« on: September 28, 2007, 02:58:21 pm »
It's sad for devs to have to do the police, and it affects every one, because we can't play for now.
But yes, every game has its cheaters...

By the way, while you're punishing those who exploit a bug to make money, what about those who exploit a crash to LOSE money ? I myself tried an interesting technique  :detective: : I dropped 13k on the floor by mistake ; Immediatly, I picked them up, but the server was lagging and crashed a few seconds later. When it came back, my last move wasn't saved ! I definitely lost 13k on the floor ! For this particularly generous donation to Talad, insiduously exploiting a crash, will I be promoted ?  :P

Hope we can play again soon. You all do a great job.  :flowers:

Krans are supposed to be asexual, so there is no sense on having "straight" or "gay" Krans, and I believe this case would definitively deserve a /report or alike measure as well. Though I still find krans married to other krans in game...

I never thought about reporting that !! Once I asked a Kran if there were some Kran ladies, he fooled me and said they were all gay and he propose to try with me (I make a rough summary). I (a proud dwarf) panicked and ran away all over the place...  It was a very good (IC) laugh, not an abuse. It's not every day you laugh spontaneously with other chars, specially when you meet them for the first time.

Funny indeed...

I think this overreaction is due to a deeper problem of these days, because in heroic-fantasy (and everywhere else) ladies are always thin-with-big-breasts-string-and-boots-that-reach-the-thighs. But of course this is off topic, and Planeshift won't solve it  :)...

That's right I NEVER saw any human woman in Planeshift, I think 80% of girl-players choose Fenkis, and the rest choose Diabolin then dwarves (which are not specially hot...). I think I didn't see any elf woman either, but maybe the model is not available...  :detective:

But take it easy : I wouldn't be happy if I was bearded and 1m40 tall in the real life !  ;D

Once, I been chased by a mad gay Kran, but this is another story....

You can decrease the sensibility of the mouse for the cam movements, in the options. Maybe it can help.

You may change the quality settings in PS setup.
You can put a 800x600 resolution and put the Quality / Speed option to max (Multisampling, Anisotropy, Texture downsampling).

[Sorry for my english, it may be approximative sometimes  :-[ ]

Gorwen felt suddenly pushed on the back by a small person. Turning around, he saw an old dwarf in leather armour, with a silver braided beard. Strange drawings appeared on his armour and on the two battle axes that hung at his sides. He was carrying one beer mug in each hand.

"Oh sorry, boy ! I don't understand why this tavern is so crowded, the beer tastes like some sewer water here..."

The dwarf looked up at the dermorian and began to exmaine it intensely. Friendship did not seem to be part of his feeling at this very moment. Gorwen, felt more and more ill at ease ; the dwarf seemed to have noticed it and to take some pleasure of the situation. But as his eyes met the glass the dermorian was clutching, he began to laugh frenetically. When he succeed to catch his breath again, he asked to the dermorian :

"Don't you drink your milk too fast, my little baby ! Or you'll suffocate !"

He laughed again, letting a non negligeable quantity of beer from his mugs fall on the floor.
His attention being attracted by the wasted precious liquid, he drank the whole content of one mug in one row. At least, he wouldn't lose that part... Any trace of suspicion in his eyes had disappeared.

"I haven't laughed like that since a while ! I'm grateful for that. Really." said the dwarf still smiling. "I'm Gromili Ironbeard from the ancient Clan of the Black Hammer... Well, I'm Gromili."

Gromili puts his empty mug quickly on the bar and raised his right hand to shake.
The dermorian looked confused at the hand before him : the dwarf was wearing old leather gloves. Beer was melting with ashes on them.
Gromili seemed to realise no dermorian or any other sensible being except a dwarf would take this dirty hand, so he lowered his arm, and wiped distractly his hand on his beard.

"My name is Gorwen, sir" he replied, with a simple nod.

"I hope I didn't scare you, me lad."

The fact that Gorwen was impressed by the city and the crowd, but not by him, didn't even come to Gromili's mind. He continued :

"No offense boy, but you look like little bird fallen from the nest. I guess you're new here.
I'm not here since a long time either. I'm reduced to learn smithing here among tall ones, because my clan has..."

As his voice lowered, Gromili's eyes looked nowhere for a second. Sadness and anger appeared on his face during this short time. He shaked his head as if to drive out these thoughts.

"AAhh come on ! I won't bother you with my old stories. Why did you come here ?"

But Gromili didn't even waited for an answer :

"Well, maybe it's none of my business. If you want to talk, I'm sitting not far away." he said, pointing a chair in the room.
"Don't worry, me boy, that town is not that big. You just have to be careful about some people, you know.
For example : did you know that once, I've been chased by a weird kran who wanted to make babies with me ? God, that was the most terrible fright of my life...
Anyway, if you need a strong hand... well don't ask me, but if you need anything else don't hesitate !" said Gromili, laughing. Then he hit heavily Gorwen on the back with his free hand and took a seat.

Gorwen felt a bit shaken by this blow, but the more important question for Gorwen right now was : "Do I have this dwarf's big hand printed on my back ?".
He didn't dare to look at his cloth, but decided to stick on the back of his seat to hide the mark.

Wish list / Re: Race Traits
« on: June 06, 2007, 05:51:24 pm »
Dwarfs don't need beer resistance, they naturally have it. >:(

But, there is a special magic way fir the dwarfs : RUNES.
Dwarfs do not manipulate spells and such instable devices, but they can draw magical runes on crafted items to make powerful weapons, armours, etc.
I think there are almost no magical weapons in PS at the moment, but I think it would a great way to introduce them.
Of course, there must be some limits, and drawing runes must be a long process (as crafting is already).
And at last,  it would make concrete the supremacy of dwarfs over the other races in crafting, in PS.  :P
