Forum and Website Discussions / Errors on the mainpage
« on: December 21, 2007, 06:07:30 am »
On Planeshift's main page, there are several errors.

Here's what's posted:

"It's the first time in our long history that we decide to participate to a fund raising campaign. The campaign is about a fellow project which is going to start on the same 3d engine we use: Crystal Space (CS). The project is a game which will be developed with open source code and open art, between the CS and the Blender communities. 6 developers will be payed with the fund raising money to develop such a game, named Apricot, and prove that Crystal Space+Blender are capable of creating commercial quality games. All this can indirectly also benefit PlaneShift, because we can reuse some of the enhancements which will be developed during the Apricot development. If you want to participate please check this page."

Notes (these are fragments, not sentences):

"decide" should be "decided"
"6" should be "Six" since it's the first word in the sentence.
The plus sign really doesn't belong, it should be replaced with the word "and"
remove the also after indirectly.

Really, the entire entry just needs to be rewritten. This is a great idea (donating) and it deserves a quality post.

I really enjoy Planeshift and the game masters are owed a ton of respect for everything they've done with the project!

Mac OSX Specific Issues / Re: working yet on a g4 10.4

I've got it working now. The graphics are still a little sketchy and it lags badly, even after implementing the opengl fix

(And, yes. I'm aware this is a beta release.)

Mac OSX Specific Issues / working yet on a g4 10.4

I'm a little unclear on whether there's been a release that will work on OS X 10.4 on an iBook G4. I've downloaded 019a, which performed EXACTLY as 019. I also tried running the set of commands (also known as the "fix") with xcode installed. psclient_static failed to launch despite my efforts.

Essentially, what I'm asking is, will planeshift work "right out of the box" yet?

I really like the idea of wandering NPCs, so long as they aren't overly hard to find when you need them.

I've learned my assumption is faulty. The number of points changes as you progress through the levels. I'm still interested in the way it changes and the total number of points needed to go from 0 to 200, though.

In response to Nikodemus:

It's not my concern what you think people should or should not care about. It's also not my concern if you think its silly. My concerns  and my curiosities are my own. Quite simply, I'm concerned about efficiency and this is something I anticipate being useful.

General Discussion / Raising Stats
« on: May 27, 2007, 08:46:08 pm »
I've been thinking about the number of pp needed to raise a statistical category from its beginning to its maxium. Take, for instance, strength. If it takes 20pp to raise each level of strength (to go from level 1 to level 2 to level 3, and so on), then it would take a total of 4,000 pp to go from level 1 to level 200.

An assumption I'm making is each level takes a level amount of pp: 20.

Is this a valid assumption?

If my assumption is wrong, does anyone know what the correct figure is?
How did you arrive at that figure?

Are all statistical categories equal (i.e. strength, will and agility all level at 20)?

Thanks in advance for the insight!
