Please never waste karyuu's time like this again or you will face wrath.

Wow, did this actually come from one of the Planeshift devs? Threatening someone for asking a question? Ouch.

Thats not the point. The point is, that the developers did  not informe the users. Without us there is no Planeshift and we have the right to be informed. The developer can put 2 banner on the side and earn enough money...

That's where you are mistaken. You are not a user. You are a tester. And the devs are far, far too busy to post a message in Server Status saying "Updating to 3.019 system. Expect downtime for 1 to 5 days." Testers are not worthy of this courtesy.

Wish list / Re: Couple things on magic

1) I think I, and just about anyone else who uses magic will agree that it's a pain to adjust your spell power according to the spell you're using while fighting.  What I'd like to see is the ability to tie a spell to a spell power percentage.  For example, for me if I want to use life infusion I would prefer to set my spell power to 0%, but if I'm using energy arrow I'd be setting it to 60%.  It'd be nice if I could set it to automatically switch according to the spell, or even a command to set it so it could be done with shortcuts.

I completely agree. If you are 50 in Crystal Way and only 10 in Azure Way, a caster would want to use different spell powers depending on which Way they were casting. Perhaps something like this, to cast a spell at 40%:

  /cast Life Infusion 40

2) For benificial spells it would be nice if when targeting an enemy the spell would be cast on the caster.  Targeting doesn't work very well, especially when a large group is present, so it's a pain to drop the target to cast a buff or healing spell.

Not necessarily, because sometimes you might want to cast a beneficial spell on someone else. You could add a "/target self" to your healing shortcut if you want it to always only work on you.

Complaint Department / Re: Arena G's and R's

I am a little curious here as to what the thinking was that split up the two Kran gladiators and left the seven humanoids, four rogues and three gladiators in the one alley. I am sure it is not a big deal but I liked it better when the one kran and his girlfriend were in one alley the other two kran had their alley with the mercenary on the steps and the rogues were as they are with the elf down the hall. I feel it spread things out better and allowed more players to train.

Now I'm all sad boohoohoo ;)

Probably the same reasoning they used when placing 100 monsters packed into the arena, yet the entire Bronze Door map has only 2 monsters, and half the time they have fallen off the map.

Trying raising the power slider. You'll find that the spells' range and power increases.

Raising magical power from 0 to 50 increased range by 5 to 10 percent, however 14 out of 21 castings failed (66.7% failure rate). Damage increased only 15%.

Also, the higher your rank, the greater the range and strength of spells, until you reach the rank at which you've 'mastered' the spell (this means you'll always get the best out of it at 0 on the slider).

I'm at 40 in Crystal Way. Last I checked, 30 was the point where Energy Arrow is "mastered," ie. going from 30 to 40 Crystal Way did not increase damage inflicted with this spell.

Raising the magical power slider above 0 significantly lowers the overall damage you inflict when factoring in the horrible spell failure even when "mastered." By my calculations, raising power to 50 will actually lower your overall damage to only 38% of what you would do at power 0 because of spell failures.

Magic will be awesome soon.

This is what people were saying two years ago.

I tried to use an energy arrow spell today... and it wouldn't work. At first I thought the server had just crashed again. I mean, it had been up for a good 10 minutes and was due. But then I moved a few paces closer, and then the spell worked. It appears that the previously long-range, higher level Energy Arrow spell now must be fired from a very close range. What used to be one of the few useful spells is now moved to the pile of useless ones.

Advice to those new to Planeshift: don't waste your time training magic. Just power-level your sword and armor skill if you want to be a good fighter. Also, if you want to be a miner or craftsperson, train sword and armor too, because you'll need to kill lots and lots of monsters to get better at mining or crafting.
