General Discussion / Re: Required Improvements.
« on: June 21, 2007, 01:28:44 pm »
I completely agree that the online support for the beginer is lacking, well It is there, but it isn't that obvious, then all the controls are listed in the menu at the top of the screen.
I was also lost at the start of the game, ran off, got killed. but I found that my ignorance eventually forced me to interact with the game, and talk to people to find out what was going on, and if ignorance forces you to roleplay in this game, then it can't be an all bad thing.
(though talking to NPCs could be WAY easier, sure you get plenty about that already though)

General Discussion / Re: Are the Smelters of Gold Being Greedy?
« on: June 21, 2007, 01:21:58 pm »
Surely if you are interested in a skill, or have a vocation for it then what you earn for it is purely down to luck (considering what job you go for), so if someone is out for money, then they don't go for a low income skill, they spend their time progressing in something more lucrative, both ways, there is no slave labour and nobody is being forced to do anything, if someone is greedy, then they are greedy, what does it matter?
Isn't it more interesting that these divisions that have arrisen in the game in some way mimic how people see each other in society? someone has already made the medic comparrison I notice.

That sounds like a fab idea, cursor change would make the gameplay much more intuative I think.

Well this will be my second dumbo post then, and to just ice the cake as it were, I couldn't find the stickies until you just put that link up there.

I had about 4 of those points that you can distribute after killing a load of stuff, and I tried with a trainer to put them into my body development, after much furious clicking and trying to work out whether the computer was or wasn't listening to me it said that I had put in 2 of the points, but the number by the skill (body development) hadn't gone up, even though my distributible points had gone down, did I just force the system to waste my points?

the character guide didn't explain (to me at least) what the different bars do, or mean. yellow, red, and blue. I've played  a little longer since I wasted my points and now have some speculations on this, but could it not be explained (if it isn't alread that is, and presuming you have some other players as dumb as myself) so I might as well ask not, for next time;

does the yellow bar have to be filled up by the blue bar, and the more times you fill it up (and then train in that stat/skill) the longer the yellow bar gets? (that would seem to make sense to me)

and does training cost money? I didn't see any costs displayed on the training screen, and no money left my person when I lost those points.
tah!

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / Immortality
« on: June 18, 2007, 02:04:47 pm »
Being new to this I'd like to apologise, if this topic is already covered or in the wrong place. but this bug is really frustrating.

When I attack creatures (rats and other rubbish things that I can deal with) I don't take any damage, and in the system dialogue box (is that right?) where it displays my damage, the rat won't do anything.

Sometimes my endurance will shoot down as if I were taking damage to that, and sometimes my will power (the grey thing) will go down instead is if I am taking damage to that, though it will rejuvinate very quickly after combat.

None of this happened with the first character that I tried out, I took damage in combat, and also for some reason the grey bar would also fall (presumably in lieu of endurance?) but all new characters I have tried seem not to get attacked, in fact I think this may be the problem,

with my first character I was actually attacked by a bandit and died, none of my other characters have ever been confronted even in close proximity, so I guess that the creatures fail to recognise me as something to react to.

I love this game, please keep up the great work! plus the people on it are fantastic, I was so surprised to find an online game where people did actually role play.
