Well, I think that if you make leveling faster the people will just get bored faster, too, especially if not into roleplaying.

I personally feel if the quests are more designed to the end that you could level pretty high from just doing the quests you would get more imersion and less distance between roleplayer (who will sooner do a well written quest then simply grind) and a powerleveler (who will sooner get involved in the story if quests are easy to step into and deliver good rewards).

Well, doing quests hasn't much to do with roleplaying. Why you ask? Is it really suitable for every character to run around asking every person (NPC) he meets if they have any job for him and then do whatever this person wants? If you are a "true" roleplayer you would do only quests which suit your character, wouldn't you. And only few characters would run around asking if somebody needs something to be done. Most would "stumble" into quests, if you know what I mean.

Well, usually it is not the best thing to approach games from the realistic point of view. Why? Because games have to fulfill other things than the reality, e.g. balance, abstaction, making things interesting, etc. Please keep that in mind when discussing game mechanics.

the main link to the forum on page "http://www.planeshift.it/forums.html" doesn't work anymore. The forum can be reached under "http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php" but the old link is given as "http://forums.hydlaa.com/" which leads to an error when followed.

Well, I think you are wrong in that regard.

Btw. magic in Planeshift is a "joke" IMHO. But since I no longer play it doesn't matter I guess.

If the bar is already green the theoretical knowledge can't be the problem and the progression points were spent correctly, too. The problem seems to be that he/she can't get any practical knowledge from mining. If I remember correctly there were some problems with some skills (mining?) while they are still at value 0.

That's a very mature answer, I guess. But well, if you don't mind what the players think...

[Seriously I am sick of people coming from outside something that has takes a large group of volunteers a long time to put together and is very well thought out with some jaded sneer of a complaint and despoiling all the hard work that was put into the event. This kind of crap is what makes people quit the project. Instead whining about the state of the game or the nature of an event why not get involved. If you were to ask around among the unlawful types you would find that the event does in fact accommodate evil or lawless players also.]

Xillix, did you even try to see my point point of view? I don't think so. But well, I should have known the outcome of this thread.

We have to give the event rogues/baddies some 'edge' typical characters do not have, or the events would be short-lived and silly.

Why? If you play your rogue properly like every player has to do at the moment, he will live as long (or not).

One well-leveled character can easily walk through the game and take out every single rogue there is without a sweat.

And what do you think a player rogue faces?

Hello!

I really appreciate the effort that a GM puts into making any event but I personally think that this event is a slap in the face of anyone trying to play a rogue in this game. Sorry, but I think it is quite easy for a GM to give uber powers, e.g. appearing out of nowhere and disappear again at will or being able to freeze people, to any character he/she "plays". And now let's have a look at the abilities a player rogue has...nothing. But hey...I can just walk up to a character and state that I just appeared out of nowhere but I guess this would be called godmodding then, right?

We are aware of this and looking into different options to make more public friendly container sharing, but this a step in the right direction so please be patient.
