Mac OSX Specific Issues / Crashes... Equipping items, trading items.

As the subject implies, the OSX client of PS I am running(among other times), crashes every time I attempt to equip or trade items.
I assume this has happened before, probably even reported. But I can't find the thread for this bug in particular.
Also, a couple of possibly common questions. Sry if it's getting old.
1. All the menus (status, inventory, trade, etc.) all consist of strange pixellated squares that obstructs makes it very difficult to read the text. Common or no? Why?
2. Just how often should I expect there to be patches/bugfixes for this app. ?
