I'd like to try this solution, but I have a question: what is psconfig?
I can't find it. And by "find", I mean "sudo find / -name psconfig" returns nothing at all.

EDIT: just tried "sudo find / -name psconfig*" as well, and nada. Is psconfig a myth or what?

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / Re: Game wont update

That doesn't work either, anyway. I have the same problem. I install the client (on my Ubuntu Gutsy), and when I try to login I'm told it's not the right version, and that I should run the updater. Of course, I didn't, since you all seem so adamant about how the updater is not to be used at all.
But then, what should I do? Should I try every mirror in the hope of finding an installer that is actually up to date?

EDIT: please ignore what I wrote above, or call me a moron. I actually installed an older client I didn't remember I had the installer for. I'm messy. Sorry.

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / Re: server failed
« on: July 15, 2007, 12:29:37 am »
I've got exactly the same problem. Since using the updater is way too slow, I downloaded the new client, and installed it after having uninstalled the old one. Then I used the updater, as advised above. It updated docs/credits.txt, updaterconfig.xml, pss, psc and failed to update a thing named "up". Maybe that's part of the problem. By the way, I tried a ping on the server through the updater, and it didn't respond (but is this supposed to work?). What should I do now ?

EDIT : It seems that I fixed it. Or that there was no real problem to begin with. The update problem seems to be a Linux-specific one, and has already been adressed, with a way to correct it somehow.
