I got a resolution to the issue with the quest.  The GM's resolution was you can't continue the quest without creating an alt for the single purpose of getting the item.  I consider this a bug with the quest.

I don't have the exact date, but I think it was summer of last year.  I posted on a guild forum about it in August of 2007.  This was probably a few months after starting the quest.

I opened a petition, as you suggested.

The problem is not knowing whether the quest is bugged if you do not know the answer when giving the riddle to Vlad or if I have not found the correct trigger phrase.  I have tried multiple keywords, using the keyword by itself and about [keyword] formats.

I tried the in-game help feature in August of 2007.  I was attempting to either find out the single correct trigger phrase or find out if the quest was bugged.  Each request was met with a response that they were not allowed to help.  It would seem that using the help tab would be preferable to an ooc request of Ojaveda at large for help with the quest.  One of the responses was that the help tab did not give spoilers, ask in game.  Another was it was only for tech problems, but the helper immediately closed the help request and I was unable to find out if it was a technical problem with the quest or I had not stumbled across the correct phrase yet.

Can someone tell me if the quest is bugged?  If so, is it on the bug tracker?

If not, could someone send me a private message with the trigger phrase?

I am unable to attempt to give Vlad an answer since I've already given him the paper.  I am also unable to delete the quest because it cannot be repeated.

How do I get Vlad to talk about the riddle so I can attempt to give him an answer and complete the quest?

How does one apply for settings?

Wish list / Would Sparing Partners Be Possible?
« on: April 07, 2008, 08:12:47 pm »
My idea was to have a combat school where players went, were assigned a room with an npc of appropriate stats and were able to train combat skills.

I was thinking there would be rounds.  A round would be won when npc or player reached 1 hit point.  There would be no death, neither player nor npc would drop below one hit point.

The next round would not start until the npc was back at full hit points and the player attacked the npc.  The winner of each round would be paid by the loser of the round.  Since the npc would be at least equal to the player, the npc would win part of the rounds.

If the player did not have enough coin to pay upon loosing the round, the player would be kicked out of the training school with 1 hit point and 0 stamina.  Of course, the stats would regenerate normally after being thrown out of the school.

It would be nice if the rooms were each separate instances, that way the number of players who could train at one time would not be limited to a set number of rooms.

General Discussion / Re: Do enkies purr?
« on: March 19, 2008, 09:09:10 pm »
There are three real life families of felines, the ones who purr but cannot roar, the ones who roar but cannot purr, and cheatahs who do not have retractable claws.

As for house cats being unable to purr and vocalize, I have often heard purrs within vocalizations, much like one can hear laughter within speech when one cannot stop laughing while talking.

Settings says that Enkis are close to nature, it would make sense that they would be a bit freer with body language and non-speech sounds such as purring or roaring, growling, hissing, etc.

Thank you for letting me know it was known.

I have found entering using this sewer access to be visually disorienting due to seeing a mix of both upper and lower level visuals.

Exiting creates a series of 'slices' of texture maps until partially up rock wall.  There has been at least one time I needed to use /unstick to get back to a point where I could attemt to exit again, and one time where I slipped out of the world and was sent back to my spawn point in Ojaveda.

Is this a know bug?  If not where do I report it?

Wish list / Re: Crafting and books

I like the idea of three-ring binders and book-bags.  I cannot imagine realistically putting a book-bag into the mind slot.  I can imagine having a set of three-ring binders on each family of skills.  These binders would go in the mind slot and be switched out as needed.  I like the idea of having pages of notes that go in the binders while the original book, with more information, is stored, probably in the library.  Can I wish for a library in Ojaveda?

Possible breakdown of binder system:

Mining doesn't require a book.

The skills of metalurgy, blacksmithing and making various weapons seems to be a natural family of skills.  They could go in a Blacksmithing Three-Ring Binder, possibly with original books stored in the library where they can be refered to.

Once implemented, skills related to converting uncut gems to rings and necklaces would be in another family of skills and go in a different three-ring binder, possibly the Jewelery-Maker's Three-Ring Binder.  Gem-Cutting would go in this binder, maybe a few other skills would be needed in addition.

There might be overlap in skills in different binders.  I would think that in that case, the chapters would go in the three-ring binder where the raw material made at a lower level would be used.  Iron stock and steel stock can be made and used in blacksmithing earlier than silver stock and gold stock can be made and could be used in jewelery making could, once gem-cutting is implemented.  Would jewelery-making be a separate skill or would it be under high level blacksmithing?  I'm sure the devs will figure it out.

It seems like this would be realistic, especially if one considers that most people are more likely to have a few pages of notes with the important information about a process written as concisely as possible when actually practicing and once they've done it enough times, are unlikely to even refer to those.

General Discussion / Re: a request from the settings team
« on: August 17, 2007, 07:17:25 am »
I'd like to know more about the Enkidukai.  Enki are a physiological hybrid of human and feline, that is bipedal.

Do they have collar bones?
How flexable is the tail? Does it aid in balance?
Do they have whiskers?  If so are the whiskers sensitive to touch?

How important are the tail, fur and ears in Enki body language?  Do the whiskers and ears perk forward when excited and slick back against the skull when anxious or afraid?  Are there taboo areas where the skin is very sensitive to pleasant sensation where only family or close friends may touch?  I know most cats dislike having tummy fur ruffled.

How sensitive are an Enki's feet?  Cats are capable of feeling slight tremors that are precursors of earthquakes through paw pads.  If the pads on an Enki's feet are sensitive, wearing boots would definitely prevent use of the ability, if not, shoes/boots or bare feet would be a matter of preference.  And the disadvantages of bare feet in combat might outweigh the advantages of extra sensory information.

How good is Enki night-vision?  What trade-offs?  Are Enki partially color-blind?

How sensitive is Enki hearing?  Can they pinpoint the exact distance and relative angle of prey from the sound it makes rustling in the grass?  What about their sense of smell?  Is it about the same as a human?  Or does the longer face give more area for the nasal cavity and associated nerve endings allowing a more accurate sense of smell?

Do Enki have retractable claws or are they non-retractable like a cheetah's?  Can claws function as a sub-standard dagger/knife that has lower damage than a dagger but higher than human fingernails?  Am I correct in assuming that Enki will not use teeth as an additional weapon in game?

It has been mentioned that purring found it's way into Enki language, does this mean that Enki are incapable of roaring?

As the settings team creates more medical knowledge, are Enki prone to multiple births?  Are twins the norm?  Triplets?  Quints?  Is infant mortality an issue?  Childhood mortality?  Or is most of the population control, as mentioned somewhere in the player guide, from young adults going off to seek fame and fortune and meeting death instead?  Is pregnancy dangerous for Enki females?  For females of other races?

It's been mentioned several times that the setting is typical of medevil times.  Are children educated?  If so is it hit and miss depending on whether one or both parents are literate and able to teach the offspring?  If one or both parents are able to pay a tutor?  Are only the wealthy able to afford to keep a teacher for their offspring?  If teaching provided for all children is it by the local priesthood or by the local government agent?

Are cubs, or whatever the official designation for Enki young is, active, with hunting involving most of the adult hunting and combat behaviours or are they closer to human children?  Not that normal human kids are natural couch potatoes.

Do Enki like water, dislike water, vary by individual, by clan or by home location?
