Newbie Help (Start Here) / Re: Death Realm
« on: September 06, 2007, 03:18:42 am »
((I too fell victim to the death realm. Played the game for three days until I died for the first time -due to lagging in a fight- three days and not a single death, then I died 57 times falling off of the path, running into the wrong room and wiped out by the big guys walking around... but mostly just falling off the path. Everyone is right, once you know the path it is VERY easy to get back next time. Honestly though, there are a few places that I would suggest making the path a bit wider as the wall leans over the path and can cause some tricky "getting stuck" areas. Two areas I still find myself falling over the edge time and time again because I bumped the wall and got knocked off the path. Walk, don't run is good advice.

General Discussion / "MAPS" mentioned. Where can I find them?
« on: September 01, 2007, 06:40:43 am »
Bit self explanatory... I've looked around to the best of my in game know-how, and went through the forums and suck but in the news about patch release X.X.018 it mentioned a feature "- Added new map function, to display/create maps ". This would seem to be the best addition for me since I Gotta see where im going. (currently lost in... erm *looks around* this place near a tree, a rock and another tree.) Was this removed in X.X.019? If maps exist, how do I look at them?

Newbie Help (Start Here) / Re: 2 huge questions. ps; im lost.

I'm actually surprised at the number of regularly active people playing this game. No offense, but for free to the public game in such a 'in-progress' stage to have this many members on at any given point was a bit unexpected. This is a pretty good game (described by the Devs as a 'hobby' work) for being only Ver.0.3  yes ZERO point three.

Really two questions coming from a noob. I've read and browsed much of the newbie help guides and while they all offer good advice and the overview of the concept behind the actions and theories of the game... I found them to inform me what to do but not how to do it, I eventually got the hang of much of the actions in the game through reading the key map and some old fashioned button mashing (if a 1yr old learns about the RL world that way then a 20something can do so in a RP world ^^ ))

I've read up on skills that are listed in the active/ nonactive thread, and read that I need to find the NPC that offers training of a skill and that it will use up PP's (progression points) and even found out what the yellow/ blue/ pink and green bars mean. Question is... they need money too? I either missed that tid bit somewhere or it is simply tucked away in the unknown category. Is there a formula that determines how much $ you need to improve "X" skill per 1PP? I was slightly puzzled when the NPC mentioned I cannot afford the improvement even when I had 17 PPs

I realize that this is still in early dev mode and learning the game will be like learning how to walk in a construction site. I am wondering if there is yet a "welcome to the game, I can help you learn the basics in a simple quest format!" in the game, or if one is planned

*having much fun in a real RP game, meeting many helpful people.* ... but still a noob for now  :surrender:

((first off let me be clear. I have yet to stat playing. Now with that said please don't discredit me and ignore. This is a question I am unable to get an answer on without playing the game for some time first.

"Is planeshift really RP active/ based; or is it another mmoRPg lacking any real community support for RP and filled with people demanding pvp shouting "omg I pwn j00!" all the time?"

I am a veteran from another mmorpg, a well known sci-fi with a huge free player base, I've played that for 3 years and 2.5 have been as a subscriber (dont want to mention names, im not seeking to flame or anything) I am just wanting to find a game where I can be a RPer without having to put a couple dozen players on ignore each day because they rip on me for being RPer. While fantasy isn't my preferred cup of tea... it's the chance to really be involved in RP that I seek. Even the RP servers of WoW were more along the lines of "Raiding Party" servers. So, is planeshift really a RP based game as claimed on the website or is it just another pvp hijacked game?

Thankyou for your patience with me. I look forward to some input of opinions and the possibility of getting involved with your community.
