Linux Specific Issues / Re: Launcher segmentation fault
« on: August 16, 2011, 07:13:16 am »
Curious why it would suddenly start happening on linux64 today when it was fine last night.  ???

Mine did the same, no software changes to the system at all... almost entirely unprompted

Looking at the error log, it looks like a similar thing to this thread?

Alright, I got my client up and working. It seems that as long as the Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic filtering are turned down to 0 it runs fine. The other settings have little effect on the client, although it DOES tend to run better with the two graphics settings set to Medium.

I tried that on my wife's laptop, but still no joy. I'll keep faffing around and see if I come up with anything.

That sadly doesnt yield much information.

...snip...

And - there should be an error log somewhere in the install directory, maybe it contains a hint what the problem is.

I have this on my wife's laptop, here's the errorlog:

Code: [Select]
Mon Jun 27 17:24:47 2011, <..\..\src\common\sound\system.cpp:37 SoundSystem::Initialize SEVERE>
Mon Jun 27 17:24:47 2011, Failed to locate Sound renderer!

I get either that or this:

Code: [Select]
Mon Jun 27 17:35:21 2011, <..\..\src\common\sound\system.cpp:37 SoundSystem::Initialize SEVERE>
Mon Jun 27 17:35:21 2011, Failed to locate Sound renderer!

I'm assuming it could be fixed by this:

Edit: Nope, that didn't help.

update to 0.5.7.1

although you might have to chmod the pslaunch.bin with +x afterwards, as the updater didn't do that for me.

6
This does seem to solve the problem.

7
This was on the old client.

WFM as of 0.5.7

8
There seems to be problems with MegaUpload at the moment, so I can't get the debug symbols...

How do I disable the word filter, though?

9
did someone try my build in the last 2 months?

I did, about 5 weeks ago. Problem still persisted..

Then freeze happends, no additional messages are shown.
But just after freeze (when I try to move or do something in a game) in a GDB it says:

...

This message is repeated endlessly...

I, too, have exactly this.

Lockup happens most, times on loading the game.
