General Discussion / Re: Aiding new characters
« on: November 26, 2007, 11:35:32 pm »
the only way to force someone to read something, is to tape their eyes open and shove it in their face. anything else can be gotten around.

.

I would make entering the guild optional. (about other options to help them/us, I'll go on in the appropiate thread)

It's obvious it's better now, but for being perfect, I suggest you deleted some vertexs in the handles, so they end in a point and not in a "grouped mesh" that gives them that strange appearence.

Newbie Help (Start Here) / Re: Banking, how does it work?

Of course, full guild-banking feature is vital for guilds, I hope will register how much each member deposits, as then will be one of the most used features!

Wow, all that objects are great, but the staff is superb, and the knife is a bit over the top ones, too, IMO.

Please, tadill, could you use some punctuation marks? It's very hard to read for a non-native english speaker (and I'm sure for a native, too)

The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: Humble Beginnings
« on: November 23, 2007, 07:52:27 pm »
Once upon a time, a Stonebreaker walked through the city gates and into Hydlaa for the first time in his life.  Seeking for a way to support himself, he went about the task of looking for employment.  Since he was good working with his hands, he sought out the local blacksmith:

(19:35:52) Einnol says: hello
(19:35:52) Harnquist tells you: Greetings, traveller.  Quality arms and armor you'll find at my shop.  Can I help you?
(19:36:05) Einnol says: do you have any quests?
(19:36:05) Harnquist tells you: Give you..?  Get a job, freeloader!
(19:36:16) Einnol says: I would like a job.
(19:36:16) Harnquist tells you: No.

Disappointed, but persistent, the dwarf returned later after taking a walk around the city:

(20:55:21) Harnquist tells you: A fine day for business.  How can I help you?
(20:55:34) Einnol says: do you have any quests?
(20:55:34) Harnquist tells you: I'll not give you anything.  You must earn your keep here in Yliakum, just like everyone else.
(20:56:13) Einnol says: Do you have any work?
(20:56:13) Harnquist tells you: No.

Thus began a cold relationship between the two.  ;)

XDDDDD

Yo made my day ;)

I won't post my beginnings, they're too recent ;) Though I read the forums before (I couldn't rush and play because client doesn't run well in my system), so I was warned about npc's

General Discussion / Re: How to better aid the new player.
« on: November 23, 2007, 07:48:17 pm »
Helping newbies get together is another idea. I remember when i first started, i found several newbies like myself and it made figuring everything out a lot less frustrating. When we were totally stumped, several veteran players helped us, but a lot of the learning we figured out ourselves. Being by yourself in Yliakum as a newbie is rather frightening :D

Im not sure how this could be incorperated game-wise but maybe not have unique instances for newbies in the tutorial. That way they have the opportunity to make friends before entering the actual game world. Then maybe an NPC can add a line about /tells and group so they know how to find each other upon leaving the tutorial..

Lol, like an Immigrators Receiver Comitee XDDD

@miaua: I followed that thread. Still, I go for invisible. Though I'm new, of course.

Invisible 100%. Lots of ways to deal with problematic issues, some very nice to RP.

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / Re: I'm ready
« on: November 22, 2007, 01:22:11 pm »
Many thanks, Lanarel, just happened to me in a quest XD

At least I could end it in another way (though it gave me no exp for that reason)

Wow... I'll only answer you number 2 (follow someone with a pick until you see where he digs, or ask, there aren't minerals everywhere) and number 4 (there's no problem taking multiple quests, but be aware that some use the same NPC and if that happens you must end the first quest before being able to follow the others that npc influences), because I'm new and not 100% sure about others;)

But I like your style, and hope we meet in-game!

I'm new, no training, and with edited description (though WIP and original one still there) XDDD

It was interesting. A study that shows expected results is not an unsuseful one ;)

Dunno that register, but, do you have your drivers updated? Which OS do you run?

You have to give it execution rights (chmod... etc) or via Dolphin/konqueror/insert other file browser here
