when i start the game in windowed mode (in either operating mode) it stops compiling information at

Loading:
Loading Basic textures
Initializing character
Initializing GUI
Initializing world

and then it goes to [not responding] in ctrl+alt+delete

however after a while it starts up...but then it lags BAAAD after a little bit in game. (i know its not my system because i have like 3 times what the game requires to run)  i already updated using the updater utility.  

also when i operate it in fullscreen mode it does the same thing but never goes to in game.  

so my questions are:
whats going on
how can i fix it
and what else do i need to do
