Guilds Forum / [GUILD] The One

Note: The One has undergone several changes since other posts on this forum, has grown greatly and also has a new forum. As such, I am creating another thread for it.

The One is a guild where everyone is equal. A guild without masters or servants, one without leaders or followers. The One has no hierarchy - everyone bears the title of Peer.

Our name has a dual meaning. On one hand, it symbolizes unity: a guild of people who stand together as one. On the other hand, it symbolizes individuality, acknowledging that each Peer is one with unique hopes, goals and dreams.

The One is built on three pillars of ideology: liberty, community and equality.

The One believes in every person's right to freedom. We oppose tyranny and oppression, and seek to liberate those who would be enslaved.

Community is an integral aspect of our guild. Peers of the One care for each other, working together to achieve common goals. Bonds between guildmates are strong, and in many ways the members of the One are like members of a family.

Finally, equality is the third - and perhaps the greatest - cornerstone of the One's philosophy. The One, unlike almost all other guilds, has no guildmaster, nor does it have any sort of ranking system. All members of the one are held in equally high esteem, and matters are decided through reasoned discussion and democratic vote.

The purpose of the One is to spread the messages of freedom and equality throughout Yliakum, and to show skeptics that a free guild of equals can exist - and can prosper.

I find Ad Libertatem most interesting. It shares many goals with my guild, the One, yet it has a more extremist, reactionary manner. This shall lead to some interesting RPs...

Rodef Emet is looking to RP with representatives of Ad Libertatem in game. He started a guild called the One, which is based around the principles of liberty, community and equality, and also had no hierarchy. He does not represent the One, but would like to engage in discussion about the philosophy of Ad Libertatem - its virtues, flaws and points of interest.

[Because the One has undergone a few significant ideological changes since it first appeared on this forum, and also has flourished increasingly in the past few months, I'm starting a new thread for it.]

The One is a guild where all are equal. Where there are no masters or servants, no leaders or followers. It is a guild based upon the principles of liberty, community and equality, and its goal is to spread these values throughout Yliakum.

The name "The One" has a dual origin. On the one hand, it symbolizes unity, the strength of a guild united as one. On the other hand, it symbolizes individuality, how important the freedom of the individual is and how important each individual is.

If you are interested in the One, please talk to a guild member in-game or post on this thread.

Look, it's really not important, is it?

Is it just me or is this alot like:

http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=36065.0

Also, note that corruption is not rife, the guilds are not crumbling, and things are better IC and OOC now than before 0.5... only the dedicated RP crowd really stuck around. (a few exceptions)

I admit the bad guy guilds are probably more commonly around at the moment, but 'corruption'?

Akkaido, it's just you. The Starfish Alliance is completely different to your Alliance of Enkidukai. As for the fact that you don't notice the corruption, that is a matter of opinion. It seems that a number of other guilds agree with me, though.

Starfish? Sea?? don't need to say any more.

There is a great lake at the bottom of Yliakum. One of the definitions of Sea is a large lake or body of water. Also, there are coral, why shouldn't there be starfish? Remember, the first law of roleplay is to say yes.

One night, there was a terrible storm and all the starfish were washed up onto the shore. The following morning, an old Stonebreaker walked along the beach, picking up starfish and throwing them back into the sea, because starfish die if they are not immersed in water. A young Diabolia jogged past. "Old Dwarf, why are you casting starfish into the ocean?" asked the Diaboli. "There must be thousands of starfish, if not millions along the beach! What you're doing won't matter!" The Stonebreaker smiled, picked up another starfish, and hurled it back into the water. "It mattered to that one."

Corruption is spreading throughout Yliakum. The guilds are crumbling, violence is increasing in the streets and even a pregnant woman cannot roam the streets without being attacked. It is time that we, the people of Yliakum, stood together against the darkness, proclaiming "No more!"

To this end we have founded the Starfish Alliance, an organisation dedicated to fighting corruption in Yliakum. Current member guilds are Bounty Hunters, Legend Warriors, Enlightened Path and the One. Contact Rodef Emet if you or your guild wishes to join.

Sincerely,
Rodef Emet

Now that we have settled our disputes, The One Guild is interested in buying shares.

Number one: I understand entirely what OOC and IC mean

Number two: Well, why didn't you say that you were only ignoring our ideology OOC in the first place? I am perfectly willing to make deals with you now. Our feud is over.

Mr Tyndale, the new policy on interaction is that we will sell you loot, but not the fruits of our labour. I do not regard you as an enemy because you are inherently capitalist. The refusal to sell you produce is because you are capitalist, and we believe that the workers should control the means of production. The regarding you as an enemy, however, is because of your mule-headed refusal to acknowledge our ideology. We are Socialist, not Communist. Our guild is based on a Kibbutz, which never became totalitarian. Also, my post on your thread was nothing more than an RP objection.
